Synopsys Sports spoke with Jamie Little about her journey on the ground, diversity, Speedweek and more.

Little's Opportunities: There's more room for women in motorsports than ever before. When I started covering Supercross in 2000, there were no other women talking about racing on TV. Honestly, that was one of the main factors that made me want to become a racecaster. There were no women on TV doing information or interviews. I thought, "There must be a lot of women fans like me, so I should do it!" Now, you see women in different roles throughout the industry, so it's natural for me to have an opportunity like play-by-play. I'm like, "Now is the time!" And my response is always like 99% yes. If you do your job, prove yourself, prove that you're a competent reporter, people will like you and accept you. Sure, some fans might not want to hear a woman's voice, or they might be slow to see and hear us, but that's rare.

On Diversity: A company like FOX Sports gives people like me a chance. You can't break barriers and go to new places unless someone gives you the opportunity. Having a woman on TV in a new role tends to open the eyes of people of all ages and genders and inspire those who thought it was impossible for them. If we give more women the opportunity to show their abilities, there will be more women in places I never thought they could.

On Daytona Speedweek 2021: I'm all of the above! Speedweek is always emotional in a good way. It's the first race of the year, a lot of garage changes, and it's also the biggest race of the year. It's definitely hectic, especially considering my new role at the pavilion on February 13th. There will be a lot of eyes on me and I'm looking forward to this opportunity.

On lessons learned from the pandemic: Race fans are very loyal! And we learned that we need them. We need their energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to our leaders. We also learned how many people became NASCAR fans because of the year 2020 we experienced... whether they tuned in because there was nothing else on TV or because NASCAR was making waves on and off the track. Whatever the reason, this year has brought us so many new fans.

About the highlights of the ARCA Menards Series: The ARCA Menards Series is a development series for drivers who dream of racing in the higher categories of NASCAR. I like that part. Ty Gibbs is the grandson of Joe Gibbs, a famous team owner and NFL coach. Ty is getting big enough to run the entire series this season and will definitely be a driver to watch every week. Gracie Trotter will be competing in Daytona with the best equipment from Superspeedway Racing (this team, Venturini Motorsports, won Daytona last year with Michael Self). She was the first woman to win an ARCA race last year and will definitely be running at the top. The driver to watch this year is Moffitt. Thad is the grandson of "King" Richard Petty. He has a great personality and drives fast. I'm looking forward to his first win in 2021.
