U15G 2nd in Region II Championships
Lake Country was represented at the US Youth Soccer Region II Championships in both the U15 Girls and U16 Girls divisions. Round robin games begon on Saturday, June 23 and continued Sunday, and Monday in Saginaw, Michigan. The state championship winners from each state in the 14 state region were in attendance at the tournament.
The U15 Girls Red team tied their first game against the Michigan Jaguars, with a goal scored by Rebeca Pallo. Both Daniel Sowinski and McKenna Vento scored in game 2 against Prior Lake Splash Premier from Minnesota in a 2-0 victory. Game 3 against the Kansas City Metro Dynamos started with a KC goal that was answered by Julia Zach late in the first half. Katherine Schmidt scored in the second half to ensure a win for Lake Country. On Tuesday the team faced the SFSC Lady Bluez from Indiana in the semi-finals. Daniel Sowinski, Maria Kass and Kylie Sprecher all scored for Lake Country, moving the team into the the final round. The Wednesday final game against Internationals 96 Red from Ohio-North finished in a 1-3 loss for the U15 Girls.

The Lake Country United U16 Girls Red team also attended the Region II Championships in Saginaw. Game 1 was against Lexington FC 96 Premier from Kentucky and finished in a 3 – 3 tie with 2 goals scored by Aubrey Krahn and 1 goal scored by Arike Ogunbowale. Hammer FC from Ohio-South was the opponent in game 2. Hammer FC scored twice in the second half. Arike Ogunbowale hit the back of the net for LCU for a 1-2 loss. Game 3 was played against Kansas City Fusion Academy, who scored three unanswered goals resulting in a 0 – 3 loss for the U16 Girls.
