I wonder if anyone is following this model. For me, every case is better than the last. Ayrun's latest album is just super orgasmic. Now I'm waiting for his album "Guilt Machine" to be released on August 31st.
Basically, he's a total emperor and I hope to see him live one day.
What do you think? If not, see you on DT!

Arjen Anthony Lucassen was born on April 3, 1960 in The Hague. Both Arjen and his brother Gjalt were good students, but unlike Gjalt, Arjen was not very interested in studying. A notorious troublemaker in her class, Arjen decided to pursue a career in the music business after high school. As teenagers, Gujart would always tease Argen, but since the release of the Airoon album, Argen would tease his brother with the title of the CD. If you look closely, you'll see that the booklets of all the CDs released since 1995 all have "jokes" Gujart written on them.
Argen's passion for music was sparked in the 1960s, when he became a big fan of The Beatles. In the early 70s, when the glam rock era began and bands like T. Rex, Alice Cooper, The Sweet, and David Bowie were emerging, he started buying albums. Argen really wanted to be in a band, but was too lazy to learn instruments, so he started a playback band imitating his heroes, Alice Cooper, Slade, and The Sweet. He really did a lot of gigs at school, and was a busy guy even back then.
One day, one of the older disciples approached him: you should listen to it. Gram rock is good, but this is really wonderful. " After listening to it, Aljen listened to Richie Blackmore's performance, thought it was this because he wanted to play the guitar! He studied guitar and experienced various bands until 1980. One of them was a band called "MOVER".
Aljen heard that Bodine, the Dutch band, was looking for a new singer, and didn't think he was a great and talented singer, but they were his favorite band, so he wanted to participate. I thought. The first album, whose vocals took Jay Van Fenggelen, was one of his favorite. He wanted to be auditioned as a singer, bring his guitar, and hoped to be a band guitarist position. And they said they had good ideas, good lyrics and good melodies, but his voice was not what they were looking for. So Aljen said he brought a guitar. At that time, it was a time when a band like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Shin Lizzy was in a guitar tandem. Aljen took out the guitar and amplifier and began playing songs by Bodine over a month. And they said: Your turn, Aljen, was enrolled in Bodine from 1980 to 1984 and produced two albums: "Bold as Brass" and "THREE TIME RUNNING". < Span>. Argen called on a young and fresh band called Venage to know if he knew the guitarist. Aljen thought for a while, how great Bodine was and how wonderful what he learned from an older musician was at the same time, and at the same time felt the limit to expressing his music ideas. I knew if I was. He noticed that he could not grow up as a composer and was too lean. So Aljen said, "Yes, I know the guitarist. I'm me!" Aljen told them that it was a change. He joined Venage shortly after the phone, and he thought he had great time, wild, and very fun. He now can do what he wants to do and can make songs. However, as long as I was in the band, I had to make concessions and also respond to the demands of record companies. Not all band members agreed to his ideas, but it was convinced, given that they were greeted from different musical backgrounds. In 1989, the band replaced the singer from Leon Gewie to Ian Parry from the UK, but struggled to put a new style on track. In the early 1990s, Grunge and Alternative Rock exploded into the scene. Aljen was looking for a direction like a rainbow.

Aljen has now been able to make his own songs without interfering or concessions with band members. He was very interested in recording several songs in his vocals and listening to it as an album. The album became "Pools of Sorrow, Waves of Joy", and Aljen began to claim the middle name Anthony. In this album, Aljen played all instruments except Peter Vin's bass and the keyboard of cream data. This album was a jargon to style, as he didn't know what he wanted to do musically. There are a variety of songs, such as country, pop, rock, and prog, and three singles were released, and Aljen played on various radio programs and small clubs, but the album failed. However, those who listened to this album will see that there are some songs that are still the basics of the huge projects that are still going on.
He was looking for a way to realize the creation of a lifetime dream, Rock Opera.
The music invited him to an adventure, the lyrics pulled him into an impressive story, and when the lyrics were read, it was found that the famous singers were playing the role. The album was Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Cristo Superstar. Following this album, similar albums were followed by Phil Rennott's "War of the Worlds", The Foo's "TOMMY", and Pink Floyd's "The Wall". After this album, Aljen realized that it was time to do it by himself. Music is not limited to one style. He used all the styles, including prog, metal, fork, and Beatles. But Aljen will hate people who can't do dub music, metal heads will not be impressed by the folk style using mandolin, and the folk fans will be frowning in the metal section. I was doing it. Aljen was convinced that it would not happen, but he just wanted to do it. At least once in my life, I wanted to make a 100 % supported album without compromising. The album became "AYREO N-THE FINAL EXPERIMENT". He found a small Label in the Netherlands interested in the project and sold his album at once.
The Final Experiment (1995) The Final Experiment is Arjen Lucassen's first rock opera. Its official title is Ayreon: The Final Experiment, without any band name specified. Later the label suggested Arjen use the name Ayreon for similar works.
Real Fantasy (1996) The second CD released under the name Ayreon is Real Fantasy. The CD does not have a continuous story with a beginning and an end, but the overall idea is fantasy. The songs are based on fantasy and science fiction movies, or stories written by Arjen himself.
The first 10, 000 copies of Real Fantasy included a full animated video clip of "Stranger the Inte" as a bonus piece on the CD-ROM. The second edition of the CD included two bonus tracks: "The Dawn of Man" and the single version of "Stranger Rome County" in lieu of a video.
"In the Electric Castle" (1998) is a 2-CD set of over 100 minutes, and like "The Final Experiment" it is a story-driven story. Eight stereotypical characters from different time periods suddenly find themselves in another dimension as subjects of an alien experiment.
The characters in "In the Electric Castle" are shot in proportion. For inspiration, Algen rented old B-movies to see how Romans, barbarians and Egyptians were stereotyped at the time. "The music itself is very serious, but I love the sarcasm."
"In the Electric Castle" is the most fun sounding album I've ever made. That's mainly due to the analog equipment. It still has a warm and instantly recognizable sound, like vintage 70s synthesizers. I turned on a lot of drums, samples, preset digital sounds. I love contradictions. In the Electric Castle is one of them. But I also like the idea of telling a sci-fi story and using equipment that people might perceive as outdated in some cases. Universal Migrator Part 1: Dream Sequencer & amp; Universal Migrator Part 2: Flight of the Migrant (2000) Universal Migrator Part 1 and Part 2 were released simultaneously but sold separately. Part I: "Sequencer Dream" features loose, atmospheric material, with a focus on melody-focused songs. Initially, the album was meant to feature only female vocalists, but Algen changed his plans after not finding enough singers.
At the Electric Castle] has a setting like an opera in which the main characters sing a line in one song, but in "The Dream Sequencer", Aljen decides to sing each song alone. did. As a result, the new figure of the last settlers, the main character of the story, has its own unique personality.
AYREONAUTS ONLY (2000) "AYREONAUTS ONLY" is a collection of unpublished Aroon and Iroo n-related sound sources. It is sold at a low price and intends to appeal to Ayon fans who are particularly eager. Some of the Ayon songs are featured by another singer, while others are completely different (demonstrations) songs. The CD also includes a preview of Ambeon, a new project launched by Aljen after the completion of the Universal album "Migrator".
THE HUMAN EQUATION (2004) In May 2003, Argen completed All Star One Business and returned to the castle's electric studio to create the sixth album "The Human Equation".
"Originally, I wanted to make a mature one as a reaction to HEAVY STAR ONE. The new AYREON's musical direction is completely different. As usual, I will introduce another extra, but this time the quiet part is. The more quiet, forky part is more forky, the progressive part is more progressive, and the heavy part is more heavy!
"First of all, I decided to work only with musicians who have never sponsored AYREON. The only exception to this rule is that I used the drummer Ed Warby, because he was me. I think that most of the singers are part of the sound and the music, but most of them are very original and wonderful people. Before the release of The Human Equation, Eyen left the Transmission label and found a new base on Insideout Germany. All albums have been out of print for a while, and Insideout has reduced all release. At this opportunity, Aljen created a special edition.
(Quoted from De Telegraf ")
What does a strange hobby mean? Is it strange that musicians have influenced their music and record music that are still memorable? But Aryen Lucassen named his side project a "strange hobby", and more strangely, the booklet did not say who was the person in charge of this record. The album, mastered by Abbey Road Studio, was a mystery with rock edges and amazing cover.
Eventually, a former Venage guitarist, Aryen Lucassen, seems to have worked on the album. After the great success of the hard rock band, he announced the Ayreon, the most pure form of Rock Opera (The Final Experiment "and" Actual Fantasy ").
"Aroon is very successful. In Japan and Europe, it's incredible." I'm talking to Lukasen with a smile. He has a reason to smile. It is unusual for a Dutch project that he has succeeded on a great Aroon album. He was able to build a full studio with the profit obtained from AYREON's first album. "I live in a fairy tale." Beautiful house, my studio, the music I want to make. The album "Strange Hobby" was for a completely different and threatening. But as it is. "In the production of this album, I may have been a little too tired. I did all the vocal lines and choruses myself. I have to record perfectly.
The guitarist is driven to such an extent that he doesn't realize he can go any further. Song after song is recorded perfectly, 18 times in a row! "That's probably my only flaw," he confesses. And remember that songs were usually about two minutes long back then. You can't make a 10-song album like that." On Strange Hobby as a side project: "After I finished the second Ailron album, I was really going crazy. As for the Ailron albums, all of them are very well produced. Every little thing was designed, planned, thought out, and worked out to the last detail..." "I wanted to keep it a secret from the beginning, and that's how this album came about. I just wanted to do this. I heard the names of Prince, Status Quo, Barry Hay, and Paul McCartney. It was smart from a commercial point of view, but fun." Dream: "It was actually a gift from my record company manager to be able to master it at Abbey Road Studios. Studio. (laughs) "I like what I'm doing now, and I don't feel the need to get bigger." Ambeon is a mysterious and ambient work by Arjen Anthony Lucassen, featuring the young and talented female singer Astrid van der Veen. Arjen mistakenly called Ambeon an Ailronauts-only band in the liner notes, but this has since been corrected. It's a project by Astrid and Arjen.
Initially, Argen intended to record an ambient instrumental album based on some electronic patterns, chords and melodies derived from existing Ayreon tracks to test her new studio hardware system. In the process, several new songs emerged, and Argen thought that a female vocal on one or two songs would add a warm human touch.
Argen heard a recording by a young 14-year-old Dutch singer named Astrid van der Veen. This was exactly the voice he was looking for, so he asked her to look at some of the reconstructed ambient tracks, write lyrics and melodies, and sing them. This arrangement worked very well. And before she knew it, the album had evolved from an instrumental album with two vocals to a vocal album with two instruments.
To avoid sounding too much like an Ayreon album, Argen tried to get as much outside input as possible, and decided to involve several musicians who, like Astrid, could bring their own ideas. Steven van Hestregt, who helped Argen with the technical aspects of the new hard disk recording system, proved to be a very good and versatile drummer.
The experienced Walter Latupairissa (Snowy White, Steve Lukather, Pat Travers) played some great and frantic bass. And two of the Celtas band, John and Pat McManus, played flute, pipes and fiddle, adding to the folk atmosphere.
The band name Ambion is a combination of the words ambient and Ayreon.
Singles The single Cold Metal was released to support the release of Fate of a Dreamer and features a spontaneously recorded new song, Merry-Go-Round, based on "The Dawn of Man".
1. Cold Metal (3:46) Remix Single Version 2. Merry-Go-Round (4:43) Unreleased Song 3. High (3:26) Remix 4. Cold Metal (7:05) Album Version
More Ambeon? Arjen isn't ready to retire from this project, but there are no plans for a follow-up to "Fate of a Dreamer" just yet.
When Arjen makes a new CD, it's often a reaction to the work on his previous albums. Before Star One, Arjen made a soft, atmospheric album called Ambion. In reaction to that, he went to another extreme and made a completely unbridled heavy metal album.
Aryen Lucassen made a trend on AYREON's album. Many people laughed when he recorded the first rock opera, AYREO N-THE FINAL EXPERIMEMENT in 1995, and most record companies hesitated to contract with him. However, especially after the release of the Rock Opera "INTO THE ELECTRIC CASTLE", especially the Rock Opera, the third CD of Aroon, many musicians and producers follow him and many singers new rock. Opera has come to appear around the world. Aljen's comment "Oh, I noticed! I received it as a compliment, but some of these operas sound the same as singers, so I need a C booklet to distinguish.
To prevent this from "Space Metal, Aljen used a completely different singer with the same song. Dan Swan (former edge of suntanity, Nightingale) sings a low part, Russell Allen (Symphony X) sings a loud live part, and Damian Wilson (formerly Slishold) sings a clean part. Finally, Floor Yanssen (after fo r-Ever) sings a really high chorus of Robert Sorterbourk (Iroon).
Isn't it okay with the name Aroon? Arnoon is known for various music styles. Star One focuses on the heavy aspects of Aegi's music, and the songs are simpler and guitar oriented, but still progressive. It is not appropriate to call this album because it is not intended to be an Iroon album. The name Star Wan is based on the episode of Aegien's favorite science fiction TV series "Breaks 7".
Hawkwrind Dave Block Aljen succeeded in having the Hawkwind Dave Block participate as a guest vocal. Hawkwood was the inventor of Space Rock, so I thought it was a cool idea to record a Hawkwind medley for the album. When I asked Dave to sing, he sang! This is a dream, as he had a great influence on me. "
The limited edition Hawkwind Medley is included in the special limited edition of Space Metal, and is a beautiful book that comes with additional CDs containing several bonus trucks. It also includes an irregular version of David Bowie's "SPACE ODDITY", a special Dolby surround mix of "Starchild", two other songs that were not included in the album, and a surprise hidden truck. I am.
Concept Space Metal is not a serialized story or a rock opera like the Ailun album. But it is still an album. Each song is based on a clip from a movie. The album is a journey through Ailun's mind and memories, allowing the listener to relive the great space sci-fi movies that shocked him.
Arjen has this to say about the idea: It's really hard to write a song about a movie, and you can't use the name of the original or even refer to it. You write your thoughts about the movie and try not to tell the same story again.
Stream of Passion
After completing his latest album, Ailun rock opera The Human Equation, Dutch guitarist/composer/producer Arjen Anthony Lucassen wanted to do two things: to showcase the talents of Mexican singer Marcela Bovio, one of the vocalists on the Ailun album, and to form a band for the first time in 10 years.
