In New Zealand, a level 4 lockdown alert was issued after a COVID-19 case was found in Auckland.
Since then, nine other people have tested positive for the virus and have been epidemiologically linked to the first case, case A (a 58-year-old man living in Devonport).
The man is infected with the delta variant and is genomically linked to the growing clusters in Tasmania, New South Wales.
Nearly 70 cases have been confirmed in Coromandel and Auckland. Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield said health officials expect there to be a significant number of potential exposure sites in Auckland, as the majority of new cases and their close contacts are in their 20s and spend a lot of time "out and about".
Auckland and Coromandel will remain in alert level 4 for at least a week.
