McGoohan’s Blues – sunbathing in the rain
Along the ancient wastes, subtle reflection rotates all time and tide, and at the same time, we synthesize the sun, Roy Harper, the same old rock, storm cock other days and other days. Love that means building limbs around the cap that carries them.
It must have been May 1969. It was a day of Yorkshire's Hull, cold, rainy, and rough. I was hindered by Berkshire in London, and then went north on Route A1 and visited an old alumni living in a hamburger port town. So I first met at the Student Hall with a psychotropic drug, a psychiatric psychotropic drug that the old Mexican Sherman liked, and Mescarin, the Peyote derivative. In our world, Mescarin was more prized for visual and hearing pleasure than riselgicic acid, which has a "head trip" mood, psychological unpredictable, and potential upset. And that night, I listened to McGohan's blues for the first time.
Even though it is not the plot of the iconic television series "SIXTY", this song, which deviates slightly from that idea, is the third album "Folkjokeopus", a third album of Roy Harper, a folk singer, songwriter, acoustic guitarist in the UK. It is a song that decorates the end of. This song was exactly the overall point of the folk joke opt, and it was significant. The remaining part of the album was bitter and comical psychedelia, except for the bitter, but still attractive song "Love Grown". .
Wikipedia and general music sites say that "Folk Joke Ops" was released in June 1969, but it was released on May 1 for a more hip source.
I have been to a folk club for several years, but Roy Harper's songs are one of his most popular "samplers" albums, "Rock Machine Turns You on". ・ I haven't heard much except for Vordville's abandoned songs. The best was the CBS tw o-disc album "Fill Your Head with Rock" (a gentle definition contained Leonard Cohen and Laura Niro).
Sunbathing in the rain …
How does God stick to your wrist? Roy Harper, how do you feel?
In a space "somewhere between heaven and Woolworths" in Humberside, to borrow the words of contemporary Mersey poet Brian Patten, where I was at the time, I listened to The Popular Folk Embrace Against Capitalism, an angsty, 18-minute acoustic guitar piece. Consumerism, hedonism, religion, conformity, ignorance, deception, hypocrisy, systems, establishments, aviatocracy, banks, media, sticks and books, modern life... It's all real. It's manipulative, oppressive, unscrupulous, meaningless, utterly futile, and you can't resist it.
The singer certainly became the eponymous prisoner, yearning for freedom, but he was locked in a phony, idyllic, quaint yet menacing "village" that was in fact an open-air prison-type nightmare, Butlin's Holiday Camp (beloved but demonised by a generation of Brits), and there was no attempt to escape. The film was actually shot in Portmeirion, North Wales, a town that developed a strong tourist industry on the back of this cult classic.

Roy Harper is 28 years old, already a veteran of the folk circuit and a divorced ad man with heavy personal baggage. He is a homeless, seemingly nihilistic freak who denounces "the deceits of his friends, their betrayals... of which he is a part". He sees himself as an outsider, "a consumer to be engulfed in celebration, and yet questioning the rules, the laws, the systems that keep him in chains, without poetry, love or brains".
This is reflected in many of his songs from that period, especially on his fifth and, for many, his best album, Stormcock, released in May 1971. For this reason I saw him then, and still see him now, as a kind of Anglo-Angst high priest.
He was several years longer than me. I was 20 years old. At the end of my journey, a naive, genuine, true, everything. I was optimistic, adventurous, I was inexperienced in people and various attitudes, and I was not dyed with pride or prejudice. But I think I understand. I understood that he was talking to me through headphones at my "journey" shrine. I knew that it was preached, but I had little direct experience. But that's another story ... In short, when I first listened to this song, I was an extremist. As a result, I continued for half a century. And I still understand it!
By the way, the title of this article comes from the fun information book "Sunbathing in the Rai n-A Happy Book About Depression" by Wales writer Gwyneth Lewis. Roy Harper is not actually a depressed patient, but it is certainly a master who writes a song that can be said to be unbearable, sad, depressed, and empty, and expresses it with an angry emotional strength. is. For the next five years, I saw his live performances many times, but I remember that he often had an adventurous, incoherent intro and lon g-term monologue, and deprived the audience patience and tolerance. Roy locks in a free world even after 70 years old

If you are riding a roller coaster for about 10 minutes, Roy will enter into three visions such as lyrical, lyrical (nervous) calm, quiet mood, and dreams of hope and resilience. It suggests that there is still hope for a better future, despite the difficulties, conversions, compromise and countermeasures caused by being involved, integrated, and confined. And it reaches the climax of folk rock coda and deity. < SPAN> He was several years longer than me. I was 20 years old. At the end of my journey, a naive, genuine, true, everything. Roy locks in a free world even after 70 years old

… down through the years
If you are riding a roller coaster for about 10 minutes, Roy will enter into three visions such as lyrical, lyrical (nervous) calm, quiet mood, and dreams of hope and resilience. It suggests that there is still hope for a better future, despite the difficulties, conversions, compromise and countermeasures caused by being involved, integrated, and confined. The band kicked, and so did the mescaline. Listening to it now, the band's entrance feels heavy and thumping, but in my mind's eye I can still see the colorful images floating on my closed eyelids. A host of Disney-esque "fantastic" shapes float and flow, shift and morph in time with the music and lyrics. Rivers and rainbows, fairies and fire, sunrises and sunsets, galaxies and stars. Under the gamaguchi lover, under the dream, everything flows on a rainbow, silver waters fly away, I'm on my way, there's a mirror, I look straight, I understand it, there's a door, I play to forget it, but it flashes just beyond the sky, crushed midnight, and in the back of my mind reminds me, earth quakes, sun flakes. On the mountain fairgrounds candy flies, I don't care where I take it, but just beyond the sky flashes, crushed midnight, and in the back of my mind reminds me, earth quakes, sun flakes. The April petals of the daffodils hide the forests of a restless chess game of life, the same tide of sandy lovers where we dream covered in stars and celestial clover, the question at the big big down is forever, I force my teeth to answer the fanfare "never", but just beyond the sky flashes, crushed midnight, and in the back of my mind reminds me, earth quakes, sun flakes. ..
But for Roy, the journey did not end on a happy note. Like all journeys, there are often downturns:
Pumpkin carriages, rags, winds blowing ashes...
Words and images like McGoohan's apotheosis were commonplace at the time, just as Marc Bolan could say to people, "My mate was fair-skinned, and had heavens in his hair, but now he's content with a crown of stars on his brow." We understood it, we felt it, we praised the Scottish bard who wrote "Minotaur Songs" and "Tears of Work" and eloped with old Hubbard. But we were all not in a time when Tolkien was king and elves and Ents walked among us. So Roy's running through the viburnums and daffodils and fairs and fountains was a way of being in that in-between land between Shangri-La and the real world, a place to which he must return, both later and later.
Postscript
I crashed a few times on melanin and acid in the months that followed, but I never again tried to recreate that first trip, even though I wanted to. But more than half a century later I still think about it, have flashbacks, glimpses of those fantastical images.... what about that Irish band classic?
McGoohan’s Blues
Unicorns and cannonballs, palaces and piers. Trumpets, towers and statues. Wide seas full of flags. Rags, boats, scotch and scarves. All precious dreams and visions beneath the stars. Yes, I climbed the ladder with the wind in my sails. Comets flicking their way. Too high, too far, too fast, I could see the whole moon....
And then what? I graduated, I traveled, I moved, I was guided by Roy to write long, opaque songs well over 10 minutes long, with transitions in sound, story and lyrics, just like he did with Folkjokeopus and Stormcock. From the 1970s' London John and Christopher Columbus to the later Infinite, which gave this blog its name, there was the allegorical epic of a mad captain and a white whale, the dystopian Et Lucivan le Stelle and O Jerusalem. Roy Harper is 80 years old and has about 30 albums to his name. He continued to tour in 2019, but is now officially "retired" and living in a remote corner of Ireland. © Paul Hemphill 2023 All rights reserved. McGoohan's Blues full lyrics follow the song below.
In this article on the infinite howl, I have returned several times to Roy Harper, a blessing in disguise for one of my old friends, a keen cricketer who passed away last year, and long ago, the chronicles of roots and fruit. And for more stories like this in this infinite howl, see the long stories, the short stories, the celebrations and the superficial.
Nicky stands with his hair blowing in the wind...... I wonder if the water is the wind...... I fear that one day he will ask me if I am to blame...... I have no answer for him other than to say it is just a game...... And Heather and I were dating...... And I was in love, the sea roaring with laughter, howling at the dancing wind, wondering at my two legs standing here.
And I am just a social experiment adapted to its scale. I have tested the surprises of the state machine and prosperity. I am rich, I am poor, I am a man of peace, I am a man of war, I am a beast, I am a festive consumer who ends up consumed in a banquet, and I am the candidate, Jesus himself is as bad as the joker who tells me Gandhi was good and Jesus sold the ring (Danno you know this doe will make me king).
And the sea roars with laughter and howls with the dancing wind.
Meanwhile the ticket puncher pierces your memories and your journey and your soul, and your sentence begins and the judge hands you a spare wig and says: "Get out of here, goodbye, have a good gig," and the city's label makers look down with gallery eyes and point with computer-colored fingers every time you emerge from a system where there are no rules or codes and no poetry or brains and you're in a placeless chain.
And how the sea roars with laughter and howls with the dancing wind when it sees my two feet standing there.
Meanwhile, TV ads dominate the day. They brainwash innocent children and impose their ideas. Wet politicians and clergy have much to say. They follow the wishes of the shed sheep, and Ma-kun's favorite pop star forces a smile. TV viewers act like flashers. Village TV lures its victims and gives them cash. Addicts are numbers to perpetuate trash. And the sea roars with laughter, howls with the wind that dances to see my foolish poetry wriggle.
Bankers, tycoons, hoarders of money and art. Rich-hearted people filled with trinkets and bibles, traveling first class in search of fame, are the guiding eyes of society's ridiculous purpose. The village collects its church on Sunday The church vacillates between the rifts of hell and the heights of heaven's ruins Unheard, the bell-ringer loudly supports the shame As the world Christ fought for is supported in his name And the sea roars with laughter, howls with the dancing wind, and I watch my foolish poems boil.

The sea roars with laughter, howls with the dancing wind, and I watch my foolish poems boil.
And I've seen all the good and bad merits of your pedestal, if you really believe in them, your passing will be hard And I've thought about our thinking, and I know the blind folly of the times That appears when our reason tries to understand why And if you really know, it's all a joke But you just leave me behind... You'll surely do good because you never let go And the sea roars with laughter and howls with the dancing winds.
As I awoke, I dreamed here. As I laughed and shivered, various visions ran through me, and a distant gunshot announced my end, and I was silent for a moment. From birth to my last sigh, the wax and waning of life dominate me.
The sea roars with laughter, howls with the wind, and dances as I watch a dying man lie submissively.
My age and my time, the blood, fire, wine and rhyme that fill my dreams remind me of a man in the foam on the waves.
"Toad's lover" "Under the dream" "Downstream of the rainbow" "Silver spin" "Fly away" "I'll go to see you soon" "Now I'm heading" "There is a mirror" "To look directly" "To understand" "There is a door" "To forget" "To enter" But it just flashes across the sky, gathers the midnight, shatters, and reminds me at the back of my mind.
Over the mountain showrooms Candy flies Under the moonlight fountain I'm on my way Lemon-blossom women After pouring tea Sky blue wind chases me There's a river I know it I'm floating I don't care where I go But it flashes just beyond the sky Gathers the midnight shattering and reminds me behind my mind The earth shakes The sun's flakes flutter.
Narcissus April's horseshoes hide the game A forest of restless chess players Life is the same Sandy tides Sun's lovers dreaming Clover covered with stars and rainbows Rainbows below And big questions below are eternal But it flashes across the sky Gathers the broken midnight and reminds me in the back of my mind.
Pumpkins and rags approach, the wind devours the ashes.
That was that was year that was – It’s like déjà vu all over again
The best thing you can say about 2021 is that it's not 2020. We'll all rejoice when 21 is over.
There was no walnut to entertain us as last year, but Pandemic was in our daily lives like a dark cloud. This year, the second year of Pandemic, the economy is struggling, life is threatened, destroyed, many borders remain closed, towns, cities, and families are locked and isolated, restrictions and precautionary measures. It always exists.
Since the occurrence of pandemic, there is a feeling that the time has stopped, as if nothing had happened.
Of course, the situation has changed. The problems between the gods and humans continue above all. But our personal life has also changed. Our actions and the nature of the interaction with others and the outside world have certainly changed completely. The way of thinking about life, universe, and everything has changed.
In particular, we are all tired. It's burned out. It has been cut off. Solarty store.
I noticed this in a recent local government election. The election was canceled twice for COVID19 and many people had lost their interest. "When will there be the next election? They asked as if they were amazed.
Almost a year ago, today we wrote in a review of "The Dangerous Year of 2020": 2020 was an elastic and confusing year. " On December 21, the Guardian asked readers to express how they felt about 2020 and how they felt about 2021. At the time of Christmas Eve, each was (a) fucking, insanely challenging, (b) optimistic, better. My answers were "exciting" and "unpredictable".
And one year, so I will give almost the same answer. We spent "good" Kovid, compared to Australia and other people from overseas. We live in a beautiful countryside with a perfect sel f-contained type without having to make a living. However, for a while, I want to get out of the Australian bubble, visit a British friend and family, and again touch my favorite history and geography in the outside world. Under Emperor Xi Jinping, China continues to aggressively strengthen its military and economic power, determined to make a belated climb to the geopolitical apex. It has Xinjiang and Hong Kong firmly under its authoritarian boot, continues to expand its naval footprint in the South China Sea, and loudly proclaims that Taiwan's days as a free democracy are numbered. Its belligerence is increasingly facing blows as other nations respond in different ways to what it perceives as clear dangers. Who knows what will happen next?
It is determined to revive the glory days of the fallen Soviet Union, evoking memories of its former imperial glory. Though not as powerful as China, Putin is capitalizing on the world's preoccupation with the return of the Celestial Kingdom to re-establish its influence not only in its own backyard, including the covert threat of reconquering Ukraine, but also in the world, especially in Syria and Africa using shadowy proxies and mercenaries. Who knows what will happen next?
Turkey, under the leadership of its would-be sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is aggressively moving away from the West and trying to assume a leading role in the Islamic world. Meanwhile, the Turkish economy is in free fall, unemployment and food prices are rising, and the pound is plummeting. The crux of the problem is that Erdogan is trying to run a sophisticated globalized economy like an emirate, replacing state institutions with personal rule. You can’t run a sophisticated modern economy with 7th-century conspiracy theories and dogmas. But Erdogan isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, with his rigged electoral system, monopoly on religious and nationalistic votes, and no visible opposition.
The United States has finally ended a "endless war" in Afghanistan. After a chaotic struggle, the unhappy people in the country were left to the activated Taliban's hands forever unfortunately. In the confusion and tragic sights, thousands of employees and those who are at risk of punishment have been more than 100 days since the last evacuation aircraft flew away, but the new government is still working on the government. It is not established. On the other hand, experts, human rights activists, former government officials, members of the former administration's security forces, and especially women and girls are waiting for the worst. On the other hand, winter is visited, the country is broken and hunger. A big humanitarian crisis is approaching. Everyone knows what will happen next. As St. Leonard said, "We saw the future, and that's a murder!"
Despite the end of Afghanistan's war, it is still more for weapons manufacturers, weapons merchants, mercenary and agents. For Azerbaijan, he won the 44 days with Armenia over the territorial rights of Nagorno and Caravuff, winning from 44 missiles, and Turkish and Syrian agents deal with the dispute on their own. War continues in Syria, Libya, Yemen, Mali, Central Africa, and in places where it is frustrating to mention.
On the other hand, in the home country, except for Moy a-ya on COVID19 and vaccine development, it is a scandal of politicians in the Diet and the staff in the Diet, and more explicitly, it seems like a Roman orgy party. There are things about bullying, sexual harassment, drunk parties, mutual masturbation sessions, and even rape. The Prime Minister rushed in a hurry and asked his wife how to deal with the situation. The investigation committee has been set up. The report was submitted. The motto is "We must make it better-we do so!" The United States has finally ended a "endless war" in Afghanistan. As St. Leonard said, "We saw the future, and it's a murder!"
It was a good year of happiness. In Ethiopia, the Nobel Peace Prize winners dispatched troops for looting and conquests, and the old war reignated. Is it the extreme of arrogance? War continues in Syria, Libya, Yemen, Mali, Central Africa, and in places where it is frustrating to mention.
On the other hand, in the home country, except for the moy a-ya on COVID19 and vaccine development, it is a scandal of politicians and the staff in the Diet, and more explicitly, like Roman orgy. There are things about bullying, sexual harassment, drunk parties, mutual masturbation sessions, and even rape. The Prime Minister rushed in a hurry and asked his wife how to deal with the situation. The investigation committee has been set up. The report was submitted. The motto is "We must make it better-and we do so!" But, as most recently, no one believes in politicians.
Not just here in Australia, but all over the world. Populism and imperialism are rampant, and people's faith in democratic traditions and processes is shaking. Yes, the Quran. The United States was recently called a "democracy in retreat" by a Swedish think tank, an assessment based on coup attempts and voting restrictions in red states. In the world of the Bizarro Cabal, right-wing American commentators and drifters urge freedom-loving myrmidons to save Australia from totalitarianism. Apparently we are setting up Covid concentration camps and violently vaccinating natives.
In early December, US President Joe Biden held a Democracy Summit, but his administration is still determined to put Julian Assange on trial. Holding a trial would also threaten the reputation of the United States, as it could draw attention to ugly incidents during the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan exposed by WikiLeaks. There is a strong humanitarian and practical case for finding a way out of Assange's Kafkaesque nightmare. But the bastions of freedom, the US, the UK and Australia, show no interest in doing so, even though it would damage their democratic credentials.
I chose this refreshing time to run as a candidate for Bellingen Shire Council in the election mentioned at the beginning. What was expected to be a sharp election campaign in a short period of two months was forced to postpone the election for a second time due to delta fluctuations, resulting in a grueling election campaign of five days.
Few people in the shire remember the last time a Labor candidate ran for parliament, so we started from a low profile, but we ran an honest and good campaign and gained recognition.
But sadly, we are outdated, frankly, to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is a rich and professional organization, and the Nationalist Party to provide, provide information, and the KMT. It was out. They survive us with the claim that we are "infiltrations" from political parties, so we flourished from the party's money, who were indifferent and indifferent and cynical voters, and Macquerley Street (New South Wales Congress (New South Wales) ) We have given instructions, and we have no right to represent Shire, we are many years of residents known to the local community. Currently, the parliament has only two advancements, and the people have recovered Shire to business, development and traditional values. Many HOs who voted for them without confirming their confidence in the future would have regrets of the buyer. And in the meantime, it was really nice that I didn't have to sit in the council meeting with the Neotin Pira group.
And finally, as a bright topic, there was Taylor Swift in the world of art. She has just won the Grammy Award for a splendid folklore and announced a new version for the album Copyright-Purloined Red. How can this gorgeous original be better? Swift did it! Brighter, glossy, sharper, bigger, more beaten, and bounced (I stealed the latest modification from her album many years ago). Nine years ago, this album, which was released when she was 22, was also very fresh today, with Washington Post and Rolling Stone magazine (Economist has not yet given opinions). Listening to such a young, as clear, bold, precocious and immeasurable artist is fresh and encouraging. Tei Tei also stunned us on her old handkerchief adventure and provided one of the moments of this year's pop culture. The actor Jake Gillenhole not only took her innocence, but also wore her handkerchief, and on the weekend of November, only his whereabouts became his whereabouts. It can be said that it was the worst 48 hours to become a Gillenhole.

One of the most painful stories in Ken Burns's powerful documentary films Vietnam War is Denton Winslow Crocker Jr., a 6 5-yea r-old youth.
This story begins with "With God on OUR SIDE" sung by Bob Dylan. My hometown is called the Midwest. "
The nickname of Denton's family is "Mogie". The nickname of Denton's family is "Mogie". Young Denton loves history, is proud of the United States and his hero, and hates Reds.
In 1964, Mogie was restless. I want to play my role. So he left the house for four months and returned only when his parents agreed to participate before he was 18 years old.
Bob Dylan, Historian
Recruitment in March 1965.
He was eager to fight, hoping to become a fallen umbrella, and was delighted when he was able to join the famous "screaming eagle" who pioneered D-day in another war.
He was assigned to a support unit and wrote a letter to his house, saying, "I can't feel a sense of accomplishment, even though my friends are facing all danger."
He is finally relocated to a combat unit on the Cambodian border.
A friend is seriously injured next to Denton. He carries his dying friend from the battlefield and won the Army Award Medal.
Denton is on a steep battlefield, hoping to leave the front. He writes a letter at home: "I had been dedicated for a while and offered a variety of prayers, but I was an atheist again until the shooting started.
Hope for retirement is a wasteful dream.
His 19th birthday, June 3, 1966, at night, there was another job at the Cambodian border.
His unit is ordered to climb the top of the hill overlooking the platform of the besieged ARVN (South Vietnamese army), and to organize artillery support for the morning attack.
Mogie is the role of the guidance. He shot a vethon machine gun from the darkness.
Denton Crocker Jr. could not reach the top of the hill.
When I returned home, a police officer came. His mother recalls in Sarato Gas Springs, New Jersey, saying, "It was the best day to spend in the garden."
"She knew the politics and protests in South Vietnam and the Soviet Union, and at the end of 1965, he had already questioned what the United States was doing in Vietnam.
She knew the politics and protests of South Vietnam and the Soviet Union.
They will be remembered on the sunset and in the morning.
This work was edited and repeated as a story, editing Ken Burn's Vietnam War chronology.

Well, I have been lost for nearly 60 years about Bob Dylan. Neither a mania nor a perfectionist. And sometimes I miss things. I missed Blind Willie Mactery. Mississippi is a jewel! Mississippi is a jewel! And I intentionally ignored what was included in the great American songbook. Diana Clar is better and gorgeous with hot piano players.
He also missed the "Cross The Green Mountain" written for the soundtrack of Ted Turnner's American Sout h-South War movie "G ODS and Generals". The original is a successful book, but this movie sank without a trace. Ted has become deep in the Southern South War and has joined the Civil War Entertainer in the magnificent Getisberg-Picket Assault. Bob's songs were included in one of the many versions of the boot legs. This is a cut version with video from the movie of Turner. All songs and Sean's essays can be heard from the following.
This song is an amazing song that incorporates a lot of theology, literary and historical sources. "Beyond the Green Mountains" is exactly one of Dylan's masterpieces. Despite the fact that such a great work was originally in soundtrack, it was released from "Tell Tale Signs: The BootleG Series Volume Eight", but it deserves this level. What has not been noticed is surprising and disturbing. Dylan talks about the story of the civil war, the foresight history of mankind, and the sagging insight, and the summit that can happen to all of us. It's a strange and sad genre that chooses to keep grasping the catastrophic reality, which is our world. By recording our dreams, conflicts, and suffering, the maximum and at the very least of what we were, who they were, and who could be. Is showing. This song, an elegy, tribute, and sorrowful song, is a tragedy story that reaches the hearts of everyone who is far beyond the obvious theme and tries to walk on a clearer path in the modern world. 。
"You don't fire. Will the trumpet not sound? You can't distinguish between a certain army and another army. This song is on a ruined land just before the fog of the war or just after the fog begins to clear. For three years at a hospital in Washington, Walt Whitman, who has been carried out for three years, writes in the notebook immediately after Robert E. Lee surrendered. Dylan is trying to express one of the real war in his song.
And he concludes Bob Dylan as a historian:
"I can't prohibit horror in this dystopia day in American history. From the East 3 8-chome and Chicago Street in Minneapolis, or the place that passed through the year of the pest, to the polluting federal council hall. Until the days, it seems to be collapsing everywhere, and is the day of the evil, and the Diagnosis of the MONFOR MOST FOUL (the most corrupted monfol). It may be the fate of life itself, but it may be the fate of life itself, but it is unknown whether it is too late: Desire and fate have already been dismantled, the United States has been revealed at the crossroads. The historical vision of Bob Dylan seems to be only a little possibility of wisdom and relief. "
It's not dark yet, but don't even hear the numbness of prayer there.
‘Cross the Green Mountain by Bob Dylan – A Lyrical Examination
It's a tough conclusion. But for many, the glass is not half empty, but half full. As Paul Simon sang in the song America. "We come in this most uncertain hour of the season to sing the song of America." But he added, "We will not be forever blessed."
America is rather North and South, red and blue. There will be more than one American: North, South, black, white, East Coast, West Coast, Midwest. The heirs of the mid-19th century know nothings, nativists, immigrants, natives, and others. It is the land of Trump and his carpet bombers and telepaths, a bitter and twisted, revised retro America, a dangerous and excessive America driven by the myth of manifest destiny and the creation of American exceptionalism. But it is also the America of Martin Luther King and the Freedom Riders, Barack Obama, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her foursome. It is Walt Whitman's America, Herman Melville's and John Steinbeck's America. It is Leonard Bernstein's America, Paul Simon's America, Woody Guthrie's America, Bob Dylan's America.
As Leonard Cohen said, America is "the birthplace of the best and the worst."
But foreigners look at America today and shake their heads in admiration.
For an America in my blood and in my bones, I prayed from the early light of dawn for the America I became.

But what is the difference in history and more specific American history for Dylan's work? For a long time, Dylan has appeared in a song with historical and people in the area where the history is shadowed by myths. And his work is far from a larger American myth, from Billy the Kid to Lenny Blues, which is derived from the violent past, such as players, prophets, false prophets, and scammers. Not separated. In the 2004 memoir, Dylan has read the historical book deeply after arriving at the Grinage Village, and the ant i-police officer and civil rights activist lower house, who was a "bylo n-like inne r-like". He wrote with persuasive power that a member of the Diet Sadias Stevens gave him deep and permanent.
Dylan often seemed to be away from the current spiritual beat, living according to the Garveston flood, the floods of Mississippi, and the sinking of Titanic. A long time ago, he discovered a parallel world full of traditional virtue and energy in the folk song. And over time, the universe is a reality, and if you ask what is happening, President Garfield falls down, as Bascom Ramar Lanceford sung. The answer that I didn't have it came back. "Dylan writes about the days of the village:" It was the news that I looked up, chased, and watched. " It is difficult to listen to Dylan's work for the past 20 years and not listen to the time warp and draw in the listeners into it.
how? One is that I'm studying. As a historian, it is attractive to see a young u p-an d-coming artist visiting New York Public Library, studying American newspapers in the Sout h-South War, and calm down. It was even a target. Of course, that is absolutely impossible. The intellectual accuracy of the book about the village in the early 1960s can be proved, but the author of Chronicle is also built and tells something about his relationship between Dylan and his history. (In fact, I have no idea if he actually met Sadias Stevens or later in the early 1960s, when most historian drew Stevens as a malformed and revengeful urgent group. ).
Nevertheless, Dylan builds a fantasy based on facts. It was attractive to carefully study primary historical materials and read them as confident. It was everyday until the Internet became almost outdated by microfilm. Then, the applicant seeking Bob Dylan inspiration passes one of these tapes through a plastic or metal reel, one of the ol d-fashioned machines, turns the knob, presses the lever, and turns the knob. Or press the lever, try to match all focus like us. The fact that Dylan continues to be fascinated by the 19t h-century document is that his historian Douglas Burin Cry has investigated the details of the terrible shiang and Alapaho massacre that occurred in 1864. I acknowledged.
What Dylan has gained from the past is clearly different from what ordinary historians do. The differences and similarities are also important. Dylan is not particular about the accuracy that historian demands, but is not particular about the accuracy that songwriters safely ignore. When one person asked to E. L. Doctrou if he had met Emma Goldman and Ivrin Nestbit, as he was drawn in his novel "Ragtime", Doctrou said, "I met. There is. " This is the spirit that Dylan puts in the song.
"Song writers don't care what is honest. That's her truth, but to find and express such truths, anyone can want it. I needed to know everything that Dylan had happened in Brin Creek, as much as possible about what happened. The reason why it turned out to be much less than what I was learning) is certainly here.
Training historians can usually jump into the materials with specific themes and stories in mind, and exclude other things. However, Dylan can be confused by unexpected situations and may be overwhelmed. He wrote in the 1850s Chronicle in the 1850s. "There was news about reform exercises, ant i-boycott alliance, crime, child labor, acrobatics, slave factories, swears of loyalty, and religious reconstruction. The newspaper itself exploded, lightning burned, and everyone would be destroyed. I felt like it. " "
But once he gets over his embarrassment, Dylan builds a sense of the synchronicity of the whole with more speed than most historians. For example, the America of the Civil War that he discovers 100 years later is an unreal, grandiose, highly restrained place, a land of conflict with time itself. The Enlightenment ideas of liberty and equality, the Declaration of Independence, checks and balances, everything that Americans were supposed to be proud of, the very words themselves, can only get so far. "After a while," he continues, "you see nothing but a culture of senselessness, black days, division, evil for evil, the common destiny of man going astray." And then, in a way that is somehow mystical and traditional, not unlike the America of the '60s, he writes, "you see the full complexity of human nature." Not a little, but a lot. "A logical man who follows the absurd, Dylan offers a succinct metaphor that is more intense and powerful than historians usually use: 'There America was crucified, she died and rose again.'" Equally important is where Dylan would later claim that perception took him: "The sacred truth about it will be the solemn standard behind everything I write."
This shows how seriously Dylan takes history. And when we look back at some of his most significant engagements with historical awareness, from his early songs to his moody, authoritarian style, it's clear that his use of history has matured and become more sophisticated and nuanced over the decades.

Dylan debuted his first, apparently historic, song at City Hall in April, "With God on Our Side," written when he was 21; performed with Joan Baez, dropped from the repertoire in 1965, and remained largely untouched since. The song is a hierarchical lecture on the American sacred, a platitude about what history books portray as falsehoods. The song is in keeping with an easy iconoclasm, arguing that the American story you've been told is a mass of lies designed to glorify war and conquest. This easy iconoclasm is with us today, in the midst of social and political turmoil, but many of the sentiments and views in the song are long outdated, frozen in America's anti-establishment, Great Cold War, anti-atomic era, when every day it felt as if human existence was on the brink of superpowerful thermonuclear annihilation. (In 1989, the year the Berlin Wall fell, the Neville Brothers recorded a new version about Vietnam, replacing the original, which was about World War II and the Holocaust.)
As a songwriter's history lesson, "With God on Our Side" is inconsistent. There is probably something else to say about the American slaughter of Native Americans, and perhaps something else to say about the futility of World War II. But of the Spanish-American War, it had its day. As for the Civil War, as historians can point out, the U. S. Army and Navy killed 200, 000 American soldiers. With over 10, 000 black recruits (nearly half of them former slaves), they killed and died in the ranks of "Glory, Glory, Hallelujah," effectively bringing about the abolition of slavery. The song's most vivid and disturbing passages are not about American war crimes, but about Nazi Germany's elimination of the Jews. The song's final scene, depicting Jesus' betrayal by Judas Iscariot, is certainly timeless, but it evokes absolute evil in a way that reduces American history to a fleeting myth. What I can say in place of this song is that the first two serious lessons to learn about the history of the United States express a completely innocent tragedy, condensed with its achievements and promises. First, it is a fatal gap between reality and promises. The pride of the country, sometimes the savior, was worse, and was often too rough. Second, the "Beautiful America" also has a twisted roots planted in dark and bloody soil. "With God on Our Side" is a sermon song that Dylan had to overcome, but without its historical base, it would not have grown more.
In less than two years, "Bob Dylan's 115th Dream", which is included in the fifth album "Bringing IT All Back Home", is inferior to "with God on OUR SIDE". Although it is not a protest song, the similarities are there. This song, one of the first works that Dylan moved from fork to rock, is ostensibly songs that were once called the discovery of the United States, and the previous work was peaceful and lead. Similarly, it is an incredibly uplifted stupid song. The recorded version starts with a carefully edited edited wrong start, but the musicians resume rides like a 6 and a half minutes roller coaster. Dylan wrote early in New York that he began to yearn for his downtown artist Red Grooms' enthusiastic comical work. It is unusual for Dylan to play this song only six more times since the recording 50 years ago, because I liked the recorded version, so I got it even if I replayed it. It may be a sign that we have decided that there is almost no.
Bob Dylan's 115th dream is different from "God as an ally", but we put us in a real historic place, albeit fictional. The A-Rab ship was the Meiflower at first, but eventually changed to the Pecod, and finally, when A-RAB and the crew were preparing to return to the sea, the Ninya. Pinta, Santa Maria, is sailing to find the United States that has already been discovered. In this way, the time shifts as the name shifts.
One of the main characters, A-Rab's subordinates, was already familiar with Dylan listeners in previous songs. In "Motorpsycho nitemare" ("Bob Dylan's 115th Dream" is a rewrite of the same tune), Chapli n-style people who seem to be the salesman on a traveling area were always caught or caught in traffic jams. 。 This time, however, it is a hip star for a sailor that travels in 1620, sometimes in 1851, sometimes 1492, but always in the historic scenery of 1965. A-Rab, who transformed into Peter Minui in Manhattan, wrote a certificate, built a fort, and traveled to buy a place in one pam, and the history of the United States is broken down into a sharp dealer and trust story. Waitress, a man who is controversial in the handsome handsome, a clerk who can die, and those who demand "ban on bombs" instead of Peter Styvezant knowing as a bouley. At the same time, the history of the United States develops into a sharp dealer and a story of trust: a crazy, sophisticated, confusing, absurd new land.
In 1983, 18 years later, Dylan wrote a historic masterpiece. "BLIND WILLIE MCTELL" is "with God on OUR SIDE" is as aggressive as lessons learned, "115th Dream is as accurate and accurate. Beginning with the catastrophic Southland dyed by the martyrs, the night view of the night country is closed, dating back to the era of slavery and the Civil War, and the screams of chain gangs and rebels. I sometimes see "Blind Willie Mactel" as the latest protest song, which intends to record black tragedy and suffering in the new world in the United States. This should be listened in a version recorded about 40 years ago. However, Dylan had doubts because he did not think that the song was over in 1983, did not appear in distrustful people, and is now highly valued and loved in Dylan's songs. But it is still struggling. Unlike with God on Our Side and "115th Dream", he frequently played this song at concerts (200 times or more since 1997), but this song has changed over a long time. , It is still changing. Dylan's work is not stable, but some are more stable than other songs, and "Blind Willie Mactel" is one of them. It is a matter of diffusion, not an alternative.
Dylan's current "Blind Willie Mactel" version has deleted a passage and burning slave ships. And the chain gang and the rebel also shout at the foul. The song is currently going back to the age of Mactails, or to the 1880s. And one of the remaining two historical poetry, a poem where women and young and handsome men appear, wrote, "Some have died in the battle / some have survived." "They" and the battle they fought are left to the listener's imagination.
I don't know why Bob Dylan wrestled with this song and why the fight led him here, but it seems that the serious history has had ironic and ambiguousness at the same time. The ambiguous master has made this historic song more ambiguous, more specific, more unique, and more clear, but it is nothing simple. The "power, greed and injured seeds" you see everywhere the singers make us look like dizziness.
Rhiannon the Revelator – In the dark times will there also be singing?
This "Cross the Green Mountain" was written as part of the soundtrack of the movie about 20 years later of "Blind Willie McTell", and is light in a terrible Ted Turner movie on the theme of the Civil War. It is. This song was written in a style featured by Dylan in the style of Love Campbell's intense violin, which was featured by Dylan in "Love and theoft" (fortunately released on September 11, 2001). It is a war song that was hardly imagined by the precocious author of "GOD on OUR SIDE", but there is a mysterious connection with this early song.
I can't hear a single gunshot. The trumpet does not sound, and there is no distinction between the army. The song reminds the soldiers in the destructive land just before or immediately after the fog of the war stands. Walt Whitman, who was hurt, sick, and dying for three years at Washington's hospital, wrote in a notebook shortly after Robert E. Lee surrendered in Apomato. Dylan is trying to put the real war in the song.
The two impressive lyrics are both reconstructed by relatively dark Civil War poetry, and as in Whitman, they have a sharp ironic trap that makes you feel the spirit of Ambrose Bears. The first lyrics quoted a passage of Ohi o-born Southern Poets, depicting the moment of death that "Captain" was "killed by his subordinates." The other is to rewrite one of the littl e-known poems of Whitman, describing the first shock of his mother who received a letter that his son was seriously injured.
The existence of a living god has penetrated "beyond the Green Mountains" as a reality, not as a warful propaganda tool. However, as the cruel irony of this song shows dramatically, the method of God is as incomprehensible as God's purpose. In the mystery, "with God on OUR SIDE" is widely rewritten with a twist and deep sound. Dylan does not choose any side, whether he borrowed or the story about it. And I know that the northern people and the southern people pray to the same god, and that God has declared that they are their ally, but at least this song does not choose the almighty god.
Instead, Dylan writes about a "venging God" to whom everyone must pay respect. Abraham Lincoln began his second speech by denouncing the Southern blasphemy that justified slavery. Lincoln instead wrote that God had caused horrific carnage on both sides. Dylan must have read Lincoln's speeches, but he is mostly interested in other aspects of the war. But his invocation of God as an avenger who will strike down "the land of the rich and the free" places him in the same league as Lincoln.
Dylan, who was just over 60 when he recorded "Cross the Green Mountain," has witnessed events in the past two decades that have seen the world he began in turn to dust and have made writing history in traditional form so intensely imminent. He was drawn to the ballad form early on, not only as a source of mythological archetypes like John Henry and Stagolee, but also as a means of expressing the cases of deadly injustice that touched him. He has lived long enough that his old ballads are as old as the originals that inspired him. Just as Dylan murdered William "Billy" Lyons in "Stagolee," Albert Bullitt in "Frankie and Albert," and Delia Green in "Delia" in 1963. Longevity has shaped Dylan's recent approach to history as well. He sings old ballads about monumental disasters long before his time, and creates new ones about disasters he remembers well.
Other songwriters have written ballads about the 1912 sinking of the Titanic, a subgenre in itself, with more than a dozen different songs, including Lead Belly's "The Titanic" and the beloved "It Was Sad When That Great Ship Went Down." Dylan's "Tempest" (from his 2012 album of the same name) owes its melody and lyrics in part to the Carter Family's 1956 recording of "The Titanic." Dylan must have found Carter's version unfinished, and provided the missing material, including a chronological cameo from Leonardo DiCaprio borrowed from James Cameron's bombastic film. The sleeping guard's tragic notes are repeated, but otherwise the song is a simple but riveting tale that gradually turns to horror: the chaos of floating bodies, flooding cabins, and exploding engine rooms sometimes resembles a Civil War battle, where, as Dylan sings about a sinking ship, "brother against brother/in all circumstances/fighting/slaughtering each other/dancing the dance of death." The song offers a chronicle of unreflective heroism, a chronicle of betrayal, and a chronicle of complex humanity in the midst of destruction.
And finally, eight years later, in the plague year of 2020, Dylan's historical explorations led him to the venerable genre of presidential assassination with "Murder Most Foul," from Rough and Rowdy Ways. He probably became familiar with the folk songs "Charles Guiteau" (about James Garfield's assassin) and "White House Blues" (about the death of William McKinley) after first hearing them in Harry Smith's 1952 Anthology of American Folk Music, from which they appeared. Around the same time, he also recorded Bascom Lamar Lunceford's "Mr.

Dylan painstakingly researched the facts leading up to Lyndon B. Johnson's presidency. He links Dealey Plaza to layers of American culture, from the horror movie A Nightmare on Elm Street to the legendary Dallas barrelhouse and red light district that inspired the traditional song "Deep Ellum Blues." He sees the murder as a turning point, not a tipping point, when the nation "slowly began to decay" after the three Graces died and their souls were liberated. What is the truth, and where did it go? Read Oswald and Ruby to find out. Don't take the conspiracy-theorizing setting of this song, which is reminiscent of Oliver Stone's crazy JFK fantasy film, JFK. The song's high point is a deeply moving failure of reckoning and reckoning with the horrific moment in November 1963 when America's downfall began.
The song before "Murder Most Foul" on Rough and Rowdy Ways has more history. In "Mother of Muses," likely inspired by what he saw in the Nobel Prize medal he received in 2017, Dylan pays tribute to the military he denigrated in his 1963 song, "The names of heroes/It's for them to remember/With guns in their hands/And God on their side." "Goodbye Jimmy Reed," which combines subtle references to dead bluesmen and juxtaposes canonization and sex, is at least as old as Blind Willie McTell's stage show. The horrifying events of President McKinley's assassination, as depicted in Charlie Poole's slightly chilling 1926 recording of "White House Blues" -- not the shooting itself that the song refers to, but McKinley's unexpected death from gangrene eight days later -- is Dylan's entrance into "Key." "West (Philosopher Pirate)" is a dream song about God's paradise at the end of the world.

From Nat King Call, the best part of Dylan's most great song, Terry Malloi's Waterfront, Eta James, Charlie Parker, "He's Forced The World" ( + Beethoven's " Moonlight Sonata) A cascade of 600 words that have passed the years since World War II, the best of America of the best of America. Like the BLIND WILLIE MCTELL, one of the characters in this song suggests that the arrival of an ant i-Christ will shine rescue or at least beauty. However, it doesn't seem to work, and as the request of Lampage, the fatal day returns to the song again as a Reverenant. Bud Powell's "Love Me or Felt Me" is connected, and Dylan's voice is afraid, giving up, and intimidating elements. "This song is part of the story he's talking about, and it doesn't seem to escape from it.
At the age of 80, Dylan ended his last meditation with the history of the United States. It turned out that Dylan was frankly speaking in Chronicle, not necessarily all about the details of what happened in 1961, but more deep truth in all that happened. In his view of history, the United States is a completely different country than our country, but not a completely different country in a mysterious and traditional way.

It is hard not to shudder at these dystopian days in American history. Days when downtown seems to be crumbling everywhere, from East 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis, or wherever you spent the plague years, all the way to the Capitol, white-hot and bloody. Days of division, days of evil for evil's sake, when it is unclear whether the long decay diagnosed in Montfort's Most Corrupt can be reversed, or whether it is already too late, perhaps the fate of life itself: desire and destiny already disintegrate, America has turned back to the cross, and there seems to be only a slight possibility of wisdom or redemption beyond. As for the past, Bob Dylan's historical vision speaks to our present.

Sean Wilentz is the George Henry Davis 1886 Professor of American History at Princeton University. His latest book is "Richard Hofstadter: the anti-spiritual character in American life, the paranoid style in American politics, the uncollected essays, 1956-1965." (July 2021)
Bob Dylan has been writing and performing music throughout his life, building a rich body of work consisting of countless songs. I believe that Dylan's songwriting skills have improved over the years, and that some of the songs he has written since his creative "renaissance" in the late 1980s are comparable, if not superior, to those he wrote in his "halcyon days" of youth. I think that his early lyrics captured the spirit of a generation that brought Dylan to the forefront of public consciousness in a more powerful and immediately compelling way, but I think that the mature Dylan has much more to say. And his broad understanding of history, contemporary society, and art allows him to express lyrics that are much more restrained than those of his younger years.
Dignity "," Dream Series "," Not Talkin "," Not Dark Yet, etc. are wonderful songs that include the highest level of lyrics. The depth of ideas, the depth and complexity of this is such a steep beauty. It is a work that has a goodness, and is characterized by its uncontrollable image. All of them are deserving for Full Sam analysis, but "Cross the Green Mountain" Gods and Generals "(Gods and Shoguns). Bold, rich, evoked, and ultimately exploring the earth's conflict. Inspirating the American Civil War It may be, but the meaning of the theme is a very historic connection, and it certainly encourages you to have a meaningful connection between events, ethnic groups. It seems to be designed to avoid bloody bloody.
The song will begin with a mult i-layered invitation to reality and introspective experience by implying dreams and floods. By assembling subsequent stories in the context of "monste r-like" dreams, the whole lyrics gives an introspective and meditative air. The image that something springs from the sea is easy to relate to the tsunami of that day in 2005. This is the same as the origin of this song.
The last line of Stanza at the beginning has achieved the level of authoritative ambiguity that Dylan has maintained throughout the lyrics. Somoutful, an ominous feeling that something revives from the sea is a kind of revengeful power. But what is interesting is why it attacks a free and free land with revenge. In particular, the "heterogeneity" of "something" unclears the motivation, suggesting some unpleasant possibilities for Dylan to "Rich" for "BRAVE".
That was the year that was – a year of living dangerously
The image of the "merciful friend" appearing in Section 2 of the song depicts death as a savior or releases from struggle and conflict. However, Dylan is not convinced that this image is placed in question sentences to ambiguous distinction and transitioning the story from the present tense to future form, but not doubt and emotional resonance. Is emphasized.
The last line of the poem is one of Dylan's masterpieces. Shakespeare's sense of "separation is a sweet sadness" has been turned into a destructive recollection of "dead people meet by death." In the context of the lyrics written as an accompaniment of a civil war drama, I wonder where Dylan thinks when "I think of the soul I meet in heaven".
The apocalypse depiction of the baked altars in the first two or three lyrics of this song is a terrible thing that pairs with the image of the secon d-handed military battlefield. The important thing is that Dylan is moving from both sides of the very abstract conflict he is talking about, a mysterious but flowing flow. His transition, an elliptical, and compassionate narrative, unravels the binary conflict between a hero and a villain into a more human and tragic one.
The concept of enemies from the other side is Moldan and Abels, and in the great hoax context, the image reminiscent of the concept of a devil walking between people. It is a disturbing image, as the concept of "the most brave blood" soldier is driven by honor, despair, and blood, and the concept of pain and meaningless sacrifice. It's no wonder that the flame has fallen significantly and the enemy has passed. It's as if human acts increase the hell itself.
The conversion from the 5th enemy to God is surprising, suggesting that the enemy is the same as the "reveng e-burning god." The long streets and the light line seem strangely harmonious with the Break's "London" chartered world. A relatively rough mediation in a difficult era. The lesson of life cannot be learned in one day. " In this context, the gray world seems to be an ignored wisdom vessel, abandoned sanctuary. The last line of the
Here again the line between historical description and contemporary reflection becomes blurred. And the fact that the narrator "stands" listening to us is a fascinating detail. In the lie, perhaps this is an act of memory, music from a much better land is a thing of the past, or of heaven. Curiously, the natural tendency is to move forward or backward to find a better land, but it may require a lateral leap. Perhaps inevitably, Dylan has tapped into the innate ethnocentrism inherent in all cultural reflection. The key question that remains unresolved is the source of the superiority of the best land. But the return to conflict and loss in the next verse gives a universal clue.
The captain's death seems painted with the broad brushstrokes of an oil painting. The sadness of a death that would now be called "friendly fire" seems poetic tragedy in this context, restored by the self-indulgent euphemism of the "friendly fire" cliché. Also buried in the line are subtle allusions to rebellion and rebellion. And "Big" is as affecting as Love. Here, too, Dylan chooses an image that is open to interpretation, but with multiple, often contradictory possibilities.
In the next stanza, as a period of supposed crisis approaches inexorably, the nature of the "unknown" can be observed simultaneously from two opposing sides: on the one hand, the grim uncertainty after the empowered world, and on the other, "a world beyond human vice," where even virtue - perhaps no longer needed in Dylan's utopia - exists only as a memory. The image of the "happy years" makes the former more plausible than the latter, but both can be read on a silent level, and it is the presence of the latter interpretation that shakes off the fatalistic portrayal of this lyric with a deep melancholy.
The strong declarative tone of the eighth stanza is evocative but disturbing. It urges a commitment to truth and rightness, despite the fact that blasphemy is "in every language." This irony is resolved only by embracing a pluralism from which the accusation of blasphemy logically precludes its existence.
At this point, the constant sel f-justification of persona seems to be a satire design to evoke too much sel f-consciousness, and after all, it is a fairly opaque method, although it is a fairly opaque method. It is consistent with the exhaustion of the lyrics that mixed sympathy and indifference in the people involved in the conflict. The belief of "truth and correctness" is a fusion of a certain declarative autonomy with the ambiguous religion and loyalty embodiment.
The author only tells things as it is, but that further ambiguous the meaning and message of this poem, further increasing the possibility of interpretation.
The next poem is one of the best works in Dylan. Despite the insane situation of war, it may be the only logical choice, despite the insane situation of war. It is attractive to connect the order to "served" to "happy", and "please be pleased" can be read as both the final result of serving God and the second (necessary or comedy) order. 。 By reading this mysterious sem i-line, it can be comforted, ironic, and another. And the tacific "lookin g-up" with a knot with a nuance like a different world seems to integrate terrestrial and spiritual beings into one command, and lacks the benefits and lack of alternatives. I am surprised at the fusion.
This word is connected to the next line, using the technique of "motto" that Dylan is most specialty. The two different concepts are clearly (and rhythmically) integrated. The idea of hiding the dawn surprise is superior to the image of night and day, and the hypnosis of songs (and especially music) is a dark and disturbing vision. Pass through the world while staggering. And instead of appearing in a clear and pleasant world, night is a certain place, making it stand out. Thus, our day's action is only a fantastic defense against the true darkness and emptiness of the new day.
Our year in review
In this context, the position of human beings in "Bloo d-painted Aokusa" seems to be strangely logical. As if the modern illusion must dominate other possibilities. Dylan is kindly and implicitly supported by the idea that in reality is only smoke and mirror, but placing it aside is similar to abandoning consciousness.
The 10th poem implies a world where ghosts are penetrating all the holes of existence, and are almost unbearable. Dylan guides the gaze of the reader / listener, with a swirling emphasis change, and leads to the world where the stars in the sky and their celestial bodies are "walking in a dream, no matter who they are." Walk in the dream of a living person, including himself. And even more powerful, walk in the dream of the dead. It is an amazing image of the spirit world, depicting the entire existence as a sacred place, as it eliminates the benefits of the war. The last pair is a sense of muffled sadness, inevitably occurs because it recognizes everything that is forced to be forced into the era of tragedy and loss, clings to the col d-friendly familiar, and avoids glowing unknown things. The tight focus is narrowed.
The last line of these lyrics is the most personal, with an impressive personal touch between the injured soldier and his mother, and in the fantasy that was probably injured by the dead. Live a tragic moment. Readers / listeners, in addition to sympathy for their mother and son, feel that the real tragedy is an illusion. < SPAN> In this context, the position of human beings in "Bloo d-painted Aokusa" seems to be strangely logical. At this point, the narrator is distracted by the mediocre reportage. Initially, it was suggested by the concept of "distant things", but it will eventually be realized by shifting to a firs t-person collective perspective. Here, Dylan draws a surprising narrative trick that draws the present and the future in the past and functions as a consciousness and awareness of all mankind. The fate of mankind is to entrust themselves to fear, fear fear, and accept the uncertainty and irresponsible in the change and growth. And the other is that the past, the present, and the future are tangible, trained, and existing, and the world we live in allies to see our limited perspectives. It's more strange, darker, more beautiful, and more tragic than giving.
"Cross the Green Mountain" is exactly one of Dylan's masterpieces. It is surprising and crazy that such a great work was originally hidden in the soundtrack. Despite being released from Tell Tale Signs: The Bootleg Series Volume Eight, this level of poetry has not yet been noticed. Among the 12 amazing lyrics, Dylan is dark and sharply summarized in the story of the civil war, the forced history of humanity, and the potential of all of us. It's a strange and sad genre that chooses to preserve real destruction, but it's our world. By mapping our dreams, conflicts, and suffering, the best and worst of what we were, who they were, and who were can Is showing. Elysy, tribute, and lamentation, this song is a beautifully carved tragedy story, all of which are far beyond the open theme and take a clearer road in a confused world. It reaches the heart of the person.
The artist lit a candle, so we can see the world more clearly. In this case, the light of Dylan burns up, the environment surrounding us is steep, and we can see how unstable our base. But what is certain is-that is terrible-ultimately you have to beat the illusion. However, the reality is a bit more complicated and not concrete than we want.
Bob Dylan "Over the Green Mountains
I crossed the green mountains and slept on the banks of Ogawa. Paradise burned up in my head, and I dreamed like a monster.
Staring at the friendly friend's eyes, is this the end? I think my memories are sad and sweet, and I think of the soul I meet in heaven.
The altar burns, and the flame falls a lot. The enemy passes over the other side and flips the hat over the hill.
Many miles continue along the faint line of the Atlantic Ocean.
The world is old and the world is gray. Lessons of life cannot be learned in one day. I stand in music that comes from a far better land, watching, waiting, listening, and listening.
Close the captain's eyes, peace. His great night is over. He was about to fall. He was immediately killed by his subordinates.
