My consultant report covers the period from June 11 to August 8 and includes a tw o-week report period. In the second week of the holidays, I attended the New Zealand local government annual meeting on behalf of the Auckland City Council (my meeting will be published on August 25 on the schedule of the operating organization).
The report was prepared for the August business meeting of each local council in Waitemata, Waiheki and Aotea Great Barrier.
overview
Annual budget for climate change measures
- On June 29, the Auckland City Council officially adopted the budget for FY2022222, fighting the climate crisis, and Auckland decided a $ 1 billion budget for building the basics necessary to achieve climate change goals. 。
Waiheki Ferry
- On July 15, a new quality partnership agreement (QPA) was concluded between Fullers360 and Auckland Transport. For Waiheki, there are direct benefits, such as strengthening the accountability and reducing monthly route costs, but the dissatisfaction and concerns of local councils on services and fare are the same.
- In parallel with the QPA, the Minister continues the process of integrating the Waiheki Ferry Service into a PTOM contract service to the Waihei public transportation network.
- In the meantime, I have supported the claims of the local parliament, and I have requested that all trip tickets will be integrated into hop cards so that people living in Waiheki can enjoy integrated fare and free transit (ferry this). The bus use is also promoted). In addition, we have requested that we will consider the options to make the child's fare free on weekends (Waka Kotahi will lower the fare because the service of Waiheki is legally out of PTOM. We cannot provide funds for).
NPS-UD New Government Housing Rules
- On August 4, the Planning Committee approved a public notice of the Auckland Unification Plan design change to meet the demands of the government seeking hig h-rise and high density throughout Auckland. Consultation will be held for six weeks from August 18. (Attachment A: Why I supported the announcement)
- Most of the changes were determined by the Planning Committee on June 30, following feedback on preliminary answers to the new rules.

- John Elliot
overview
- On 12 July, the wonderful John Elliot sadly passed away. He left a great legacy, including a huge contribution to reporting on big local issues through the Ponsonby News (of which he was both founder and long-time editor).
- A mentor, advisor and supporter, he was always quick to get back to me about decisions he was unhappy with. Intelligent, witty, caring, thoughtful and a gentleman. He was the recipient of a QSM award and a Good Citizen Award from Waitematā District Council. John will be sorely missed.
Warren Snow
- At the Zero Waste event on 29 July, I paid the following tribute to the late Warren Snow (unfortunately he was unable to attend as scheduled).
- Many of you have been inspired by Warren for many years for his many zero waste projects, including the Kiwi Bottle Drive and the Container Bottle design. I would like to tell you why I am grateful to Warren.
- In 2009, I attended one of the first Grey Lynn 2030 Town Meetings held at Transition Town. Warren was the guest speaker and presented his idea for a network of resource recovery centres. To me, Warren put it together in a way that made perfect sense. This was something that should have happened. The idea for a community-led centre became a project of Grey Lynn 2030 and was subsequently adopted by Waitematā District Council in their first local council draft. Puketāpapa District Council and Albert Eden District Council also support the central location. Scoping began about 10 years ago and an actual council-funded project began a few years later.
- What's fantastic is that the Te Waiorea Western Springs Resource Recovery Centre will soon be opening. Warren would be proud of his vision and encouragement. In paying tribute to Warren, I recall something he said at our 2009 meeting: As Warren says, many people contribute to the success of a project or idea.
- But for me and for all of Gray Lin 2030, Warren is always the creator of Te Wiorear, and Suzanne Kendrick proposed a monument to the center to praise Warren. I am grateful to Palul, a general manager of the waste solution that made this idea a real thing in the form of a tree and a plate.
- I want to admit that there are still many things I want to thank Warren before the compliment to Warren. In late the month, Elizabeth Easter introduced Warren in the Herald column. Warren recommended when he was asked to recommend Elizabeth to recommend Zero Waste Heroes. Warren wrote on his Facebook that he was very satisfied with articles on one side, especially in the warehouse sustainable and affordable marketing campaign. Thank you to Elizabeth for giving Warren's appropriate evaluation.
- Emma Burton, one of the climate change countermeasures songwriter, sang to Warren to the end of the event.
- My consultant report covers the period from May 7 to June 10. The report was created for the June business meeting of the Great Barrier Regional Assembly in Wai Temata, Waiheki and Aotea.
- The purpose of my report is that I analyze my main activities and provide information on citizens and local councils on the decisions of groups, participation in events, explanations to local councils, media, and major issues. Sharing.

- Extraordinary meetings of the Financial Performance Committee and the management organization held on June 7
- The main purpose of the meeting was to approve the mayor's budget and target tax rate (CATR) for the mayor's climate change measures. The parliament unanimously declared a climate change emergency in 2019 and approved the Te tāruke-ā tāwhiri: Auckland's 2020 Climate Plan led by Richard Hills.

In April, there was Easter vacation and Anzac Day, and the management organization was held for a week.
- As of 11:59pm on Wednesday 13 April, Tāmaki Makaurau and all of Aotearoa are within the orange background of the Covid-19 Framework Light System. Council has since moved to a hybrid model of in-person and remote meetings. Following government advice, vaccine passes are no longer required on Auckland Council premises and grounds.
In early May, the results of the consultation on the 2022/23 budget, which included climate action, were released, showing strong support from Aucklanders for the Climate Action Target (CATR).
- Comments on Council's preliminary responses to the NPS-AUD and MDRS opened on 19 April and close on 9 May. I attended all of the online consultations hosted by Council. - The environment of Wa Laki Bay, a Auckland citizen's water playground, is in a disastrous situation. On February 21, I visited The Neyss with the invitation of the Neuruter's family, which manages the islands with private trusts, and witnessed the actual situation. The visit was attended by the Waraki Bay Forum, the Helen Clark Foundation, the Waihei Marine Project, and the Auckland Museum.
- We heard about the collapse of scallops, the depletion of the main species, and the decrease in sea birds in several generations. He also saw a barren area of Kina, an important indicator that indicates that the marine environment is dying. It is in contrast to the green bushes and birds of the Otata main island, which has a tremendous path to the parasite extermination.
- Fortunately, the family has decided to cooperate with Manaawenia to recover Moana's Mauri. In cooperation with the Auckland Museum and the University of Auckland, they submitted a marine protection proposal to include the noise (60 km2) in a high protection area. It is an incredible place from the center of Auckland to ferry only 30 minutes.
- On the following Monday, the Waulaki Bay Forum agreed to adopt a position to renew and strengthen the Huraki Bay Marine Park Law in 2000. It should be a very simple and logical step, but it was subject to information manipulation, and the forum was opened on February 28. < SPAN> The height of the building in the central zone of the neighborhood, the region, and the urban form density is not changed (the condition is to correct the height change regulation in order to ensure consistency with the height of the new zone surrounding the center. ).
