Early life
Elena Paparaki was born on January 31, 1982 in Borås, Västergötland, Sweden. She is the youngest child of Greek parents Georgios Paparakis (1948-2008) and Efrosine "Froso" Paparizou. Her parents are from the Karditsa region. Elena has a sister, Arete, known as Rita, and a brother, Konstantinos, known as "Dinos". Paparizou's parents met and married in her mother's hometown, and moved to Volas in 1970. In 1985, the family returned to Greece to live with relatives in Volos, as Elena developed asthma and her lungs could not cope with the cold Scandinavian climate. A year later, the family was able to return to Gothenburg, Sweden. As a result of their trip to Greece, Paparizou spoke Greek as her first language and attended a Greek school, so she did not make friends with many Swedish children. Paparizou still suffers from breathing problems and often brings something she inhales into her tent.
Papalizu has been interested in art since childhood, going to singing, dancing, and acting classes. At the age of seven, he started piano, ballet, and Greek dance lessons, and sang Christos Dantis's "MURO MOU" in front of Greek audience for the first time in a teenager. Two years later, Papalizoo decided to be a singer and began studying Greek music. By the age of 14, Elena Papalizu formed three Teenagers and the first group, Seoul Fan Comatic. They were saving money to record the songs while playing hi p-hop music. On October 29, 1998, during a hi p-hop party at a yesburoli nightclub, 13 close friends of Papalizu died in a fire, killed 63 people, killing more than 200 people. She begged for her mother to go to the party, but was not allowed to attend. Papalizoo, who lost his friend, decided to give up the song. I learned theater, performance, television, and directing at Art Performing School.

In 1999, Papalizoo's older brother's DJ friend asked Elena Papalizoo to make a demonstration for the hit song "OPA OPA" hit song "OPA OPA", but the lyrics were written from a male perspective, so Papaizu is a childhood friend. ・ I wanted to sing with Panagiotdis. Record producers, who are interested in contracting with gender duo, singing a traditional Greek song cover, contacted Papalizoo, and Papalizu recommended Panagiotdis. The two formed an antique and contracted with the independent record company Bonnie Music. The reason we called our "antique" was because it gave the impression that it was "classic" and "transcends the times", reminiscent of papalizu's Greek music, which is unfriendly, ol d-fashioned, and acquired. 。 Their debut single "OPA OPA" hits Sweden and Norway, and eventually joined the top 10 in both countries. Subsequent single "Dinata Dinata", "Follow Me", and "Moro Mou" also entered Sweden. < SPAN> Papalizu has been interested in art since childhood, going to singing, dancing, and acting classes. Influences
According to Paparizou, her parents had no musical background, and the only person in her family who sang was her paternal grandmother, who influenced her to sing. Paparizou's first musical experience was international protest music. Her musical roots are in Greek traditional music such as raikou and rebetiko, having been exposed to the music of Vasilis Tsitsanis, Markos Vamvakalis, Stelios Kazanzidis, Mimis Preisas, and Giannis Spanos. As a child, Paparizou considered these genres secluded and old-fashioned, and associated them with her summer holidays in Greece. As a teenager, she listened to a wide range of music, including R& B and soul. Her biggest influences were female singers such as Madonna, Celine Dion, Tina Turner, and Janet Jackson. Later, she was influenced by her frequent collaborator Pasalis Terzis, who taught her to improve her technical vocal skills. Paparizou was also a big fan of the Eurovision Song Contest, even before she first competed in 2001.
Music and themes
During her solo career, Paparizou changed her musical style merrily. Some critics attribute this to a lack of personal style and following trends for commercial success rather than artistic expression. Paparizou is known for following the trends of international female pop stars. Music critics have compared "The Light in Our Soul" to Celine Dion, "Let's Get Wild" to Anastacia, "Gigolo" and "Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)" to Shakira, "The Light in Our Soul" to Beyoncé Knowles, and "Dancing Without Music" to Kylie Minogue. Aphrodite (2010).
As with Antique's work, all of Paparizou's albums included cover versions and translations. After Antik fused traditional Greek music with Scandinavian disco sounds, Paparizou's solo debut album Protélotita focused on a pop sound and Laiko, with songs aimed at the club market. Despite the change in image, the album is similar to that of Antik, with "pop moments (along with Keen Laiko). The album features songs by Greek and Swedish writers, which Mastorakis said led to the sound of the album. The title track follows an R& B style, and "Katse Kala" was described as having an "original sound".
After winning the Eurobision, Papalizu's popularity rose, and she was often advertised as a pop singer by the media. In the review of the Euro version of Protereotita, the music corner Pavlos Zelvas was impressed by this album, and its modern style could be an international hit, and this singer was recording in English. He said he would support more. In the criticism of IPARHI LOGOS, Papalizu is the only artist who supports the genre of pop / dancing in Greece, except for Greek pop performers, Sakis Louvas. She also said she would hit anything. She used Papalizoo that a big producer like Giorgos Teoofanus and Fever was not needed to create hits. Zelvus said that many cover was the advantage of the album, and that "Gigoro" features a "wit" lyrics in the overall pattern that succeeded in "Mambo!" The overall patterns that follow the success of the previous hit songs are featured in the lyrics of "witty". She said that the popular song on this album was in contrast to pop songs, making her sound less concentrated.
Papalizoo's second English album, The Game of Love, was expected to be a Greek consumer and had a sound similar to iParhi Logos. Zelbus criticized the album, saying that it contains various styles such as dance, hi p-hop, slogam, and Latin, and follows a typical American music system. Zerba said that international pop singers did not surpass Papalizoo, and all the success of the album was promoted, but the impression of internationally affiliated record companies was not very good. 。 Zelva's impression was that while Papalizu continued his current trends and styles at the Laico Night Club while believing in the potential of the material, her ambition to become an international career would be frustrated. Vocal style
In Virisco's fourth album, Logo Na Zo, Papalizu minimized the influence of Rico, and unlike the previous albums, it turned into a pop / roc k-like sound and image. Evianna Nicolelli, the music corner, said that the album was carefully made and a European good production. In GIRO APO T 'ONEIRO, Papalizu worked with the same team as two years ago and added minor changes. She emphasized the image created in the previous work. While many songs are affected by rock, there are also songs that include danceable pop, pop folk, electronic, and salon music elements.4Papalizoo is writing two songs on all studio albums, excluding the Imperhi logo. In addition, most of the antique songs "WHY? Most of these lyrics are collaboration with at least one other songwriter. Treli Kardia" (Protereotita), "CARPE DIEM", "TEARDROPS" The lyrics are provided to "Mathe Prota N'Agapas" (Vriisco of Na Zorogo), and the first music for Na Zorogo's Vriisco in "DEN THA 'MAI' Do" and "Filarakia" (GIRO APO T 'ONEIRO) Contribution-The first solo lyrics credit.6Papalizoo has the vocal range of meso soprano. From young to 2005, she was C
I was singing in B ♭.
The tone of her vocal is described as "deep and sensual", "dramatic", and "metallic". Critics have often discussed whether Raiki or Pop Materials fits her voice. Some genres are as good as her, but Greek critics tend to prefer pop, dance repertoire, and English repertoons. This is due to Papalizoo's Swedish raised and the expectation of her victory. Her English accent, which grew up abroad, was different from that of Greek's native language. Western music native listeners argue against this view. Sweden's critic in Sweden's Swenska Dagbradette magazine Dan Buckman said that Papalizu was the exception of the law that music artists sing in their native language most, and his vocal performance in Greek. He described it as "expressive power" and "mild" in English. He is also the most suitable for her voice, such as "STING KARDIA MOU MONO THLIPSI", "I ZOI SOU ZARI", "m'ngaliazei to Skotadi", "O, Ti AXIZI II STIGMES". I chose it consistently. She said she might have a "dramatic nerves" suitable for this style.
Fashion and style
A writer from Nitro was skeptical of Paparizou's musical abilities, writing in an article titled "If the World Were Fair" that it should be recognized that her image and the help of supporting singers play an important role for Paparizou. Pavlos Zervas from Music Corner wrote favorably about her voice, saying that on the Euro Edition EP, she was "flexible" and "adapted" to the needs of each song, from ballads to up-tempo songs. Eleftar reviewer Georgia Limoux did not disagree with Zervas' opinion. Limoux found her singing monotonous and lacking nuance between songs and styles. She also said that Paparizou's limited series forced her to repeat similar notes. Paparizou's tendency to speed up her voice through overvoicing (especially vocalizations) had worsened with age and had become a common complaint. According to Limoux, Paparizou began to sing with renewed confidence and strength, especially after her Eurovision win. Around 2008, critics noticed an improvement in her voice, stating that her best vocal performances were included on the album Vrisko, released by Logo Na Zo.
Compared to the simplified melodies of her previous albums, Vrisko on Logo Na Zo presented Paparizoo with more difficult material. However, as the songs became more difficult, her exaggerated voice became more noticeable as she had to push her voice further due to her lack of volume and high notes. Many critics agree that her "intense" performances diminish the quality of the songs, but sometimes her style can add to the entertainment value. Karamaris, who said that her albums in 2008 and 2010 were too boring and mediocre, wrote of Paparizoo, "She could bring life to even the most boring songs with her singing style."
Public image
During her career with Antique, Paparizoo had a simple look that lacked style, typical of a young girl. Since going solo, she has moved to a more feminine and sexy style. Paparizoo was known for wearing revealing clothing, which was in contrast to her "good girl" image. Her look consisted of hot pants, which revealed her most important physical feature: her legs. She also wore mini dresses and 5-inch high heels. To promote Vlisco's album with the Na Zo logo, Paparizoo adopted a rock-inspired image, looking aggressive with dark clothing and makeup. The look was completed with multiple piercings in her ears, tongue, and especially her nostrils, and she wore cable chains in her ears.
Evianna Nikoleri said that Paparizou follows a syndicated trend of female pop/lyco singers promoting a rock image, which she credits to Deepina Vandi. Makis Karamaris of Abopolis said that Paparizou's new image is more for mainstream success than artistic expression, adding that Paparizou is aware of her limitations, but has gradually adapted to them rather than suddenly taking on a rock persona. Karamaris also said that Paparizou is probably the only Greek female singer who can emulate international female trends without singing in skyradiko clubs or being a Madonna-like clone, which made her stand out in the syndicated scene. Giannis Marketakis, Paparizou's makeup artist, said that Paparizou always has an opinion on her look and fashion and follows fashion trends. Paparizou avoids extreme fashion. In the game of love, Paparizou credits stylist Al Giga for her love of fashion and herself, as well as Roberto Cavalli, who has provided most of her wardrobe since Eurovision 2005.
Paparizou established a public image described as the "Greek Every Girl" and the "girl next door" that became an image for teenage girls. Her songs became a staple for young people auditioning for reality music shows such as Greek Idol, and influenced young artists such as Idol runner-up Nicole Paparistidimou. Paparalakis became known for the way she approached the media. She is known to apologize from interviews, laughing throughout, and projecting an image of a "child-like woman" rather than a family diva, saying she "embodies a good girl, not a sad femme, and wants to be likable."
