Fact or Fiction Greatest all-time Giants Super Bowl performances

Fact or Fiction: Greatest all-time Giants Super Bowl performances

John Schmilk: In fact, this is an annual question, but the answer is always the same. Sims has completed 22 (88 %) in the game in the game, setting a complete pitching rate in the Super Bowl. In the era when 60 % of the match was a feat, his numbers seemed even more impressive. Throw 268 yards, touch down 3 times, no intercept. In the half-time, 10-9 was leading 10-9, so this stats did not end in the strike battle. No other giant in the Super Bowl has achieved any better, and not particularly small.

Lance Medou: In fact-Giants' post-season history, even if you forget the post-season, Sims's success in Super Bowl XXI is considered to be the best performance in NFL playoff history. Not only did he set up a continuous throwing, complete throwing rate, and a super bowl record for passer rating, but also contributed to the latter half of the Giants' Super Bowl Record. Karl Banks's success in the game is worth considering seriously, including 10 tackles, including 10 times without assist (4 times of loss). Given the Sims offense clinic in the latter half, it's easy to overlook what Defense, especially Banks, did it for John Elway & Company.

Matt Sitak: In fact-This is a simple thing. Sims succeeded in 88 % pass in Super Bowl XXI, a total of 268 yards, three touchdowns, no intercept. His Passer Rating 150. 9 is the highest record in the post-season after the NFL-AFL merger, 11th in the successive post-season rankings. In fact, Sims is the only General Manager of the Giants after the merger, ranking the top 50 in one pos t-season games. Only Charlie Conryn, who has been running twice in the NFL championship match in 1956 and 1958.

Bills offense in 1990 was better than the 2007 Patriotz offense.

John Schmilk: Fictio n-2007 Patriots may have the best offense in NFL history. They set a NFL record of 589 scores and were only broken six years later by Paton Manning. Patriotz had Randy Moss's best NFL deep slets, Weswelcar, a wonderful slot receiver, and Lawrence Malony and Kevin Folk's good combination. Tom Brady was also very good. Despite being defeated by the Giants in the Super Bowl, Patriots in 2007 was probably the best in NFL history.

Lance Meadows: Fiction - The 2007 Patriots averaged just under 37 points per game, scoring an NFL-record 589 points in 16 regular-season games. By comparison, the 1990 Bills averaged just under 27 points per game, scoring 428 points in one season. Buffalo may have room for more moonshine when it's all said and done, with their big three of Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed, but the level of execution and explosive play achieved by Tom Brady & Co. is in a league of its own.

Matt Sitak: Fiction - The 2007 Patriots offense was the best in NFL history. Tom Brady and Randy Moss each set records (Brady with 50 passing touchdowns, Moss with 23 receiving touchdowns). As a unit, the Patriots scored 589 total points, including 12 games with 30 or more points, both of which were records at the time (the Broncos broke both records in 2013). Of course, the Patriots are the only team to go undefeated since the regular season schedule was expanded to 16 games, and they also had the highest point differential in a season at +315. All of these stats show just how impressive the Giants defense was in Super Bowl XLII, holding the all-time great offense to just 14 points.

Super Bowl is the most difficult tournament in the sports world

John Schmilk: Fictio n-NFL's losing aspect of the defeat of the playoffs will increase the opportunity for the team to warm up in any season. Is it easy? Compared to other sports, it is easier for talented teams to beat the Super Bowl, but for talented teams. For example, in the NBA, the strongest team often wins due to the seve n-game system.

Lance Meadow: Fact - In the other three major professional sports in the United States, it is clear that more games are needed to win a title, but more games does not mean it is harder. Playing more games in a series is beneficial for the higher seeded team, reducing the chances of an upset. In football, the favorites have no such luxury or protection, since they don't get a second chance if they lose. The Lombardi Trophy is the hardest to compete for, as evidenced by the fact that the best regular season team is far from winning it all.

Matt Sitak: Fact - Winning the Super Bowl is obviously a very difficult feat. Twelve teams have never hoisted the Lombardi Trophy, and four have never played in the biggest game in the sport. As we have seen in many instances throughout history, a team does not necessarily have to be the best to win. Super Bowl XLII is a classic example. The Patriots were arguably the best team in NFL history, boasting a dominant 18-0 offense. And yet the Giants defense, which was 17th in points allowed in the regular season, held Brady and the Patriots to just 14 points in the game that mattered most. Sometimes all you need is a little magic and luck (check out David Tyree's helmet).

Philadelphia-Kansas City will score 50+ points on Sunday.

John Schmilk: It's true that both teams have very good defenses, but it will be a relatively high-scoring game. Both teams have very good offensive lines, so the quarterbacks should have time to operate. Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the league and one of the best quarterbacks of all time. The Eagles can let AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith score the ball or throw it deep. Jonathan Gannon and Steve Spagnuolo are good coordinators, but the offense will dominate when it's all said and done.

Lance Meadow: Fact - It's not outrageous that both teams could score at least 25 points. The Eagles and Chiefs had two of the best offenses in the NFL during the regular season, each winning the top three in the league. Kansas City averaged 25 points per game in the postseason, Philadelphia 34. 5 points per game, and the Eagles scored 31 points against one of the best defenses in the league in San Francisco. If the teams didn't score more than 50 points combined, it was because of misdirection and turnovers, not because the two defenses shut down the opposing offense. In the 15 games that Jalen Hurts started in the regular season, the Eagles only scored less than 20 points once. The same can be said for Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs only failed to reach 20 points once in 17 games.

Matt Sitak: Fact - There's no denying the talent of the Eagles' defense. If the Bengals were preparing to take over Philly's defense, the answer would be the other way around, as the Bengals defense is pretty stout. But with Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts under center, plus Travis Kelce and AJ Brown among other talented skill position players, it's hard to imagine either offense being contained on Sunday. The last time an offense exploded in a Super Bowl was five years ago, when the Eagles beat the Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII. It might not be as high-scoring on Sunday, but the two offenses should combine for over 50 points.

Tom Brady, Joe Montana and Kurt Warner earned multiple spots on our list, and Brady and Warner are two of three signal-callers to make it in. And he had the respect of everyone in the locker room for that. Also, his competitive greatness. Being at his best when his best was required. The Giants have their Vince Lombardi Trophy after a win over the Patriots. Here are 10 things we learned from arguably the greatest Super Bowl ever.
