When he fired another shot, I leaned left to dodge, and he lost his balance. I grabbed his right shoulder and lifted him onto his feet, throwing him face to face on the ground. He slid down the slope, trying to support himself with the heels of his hands. I spun him around and landed on his back. Then I grabbed the back of his helmet and slammed his face into a rock until it cracked like a rotten egg.

Durability

I raised my right fist to deliver a devastating blow, but just as it came down, he grabbed my forearm to stop me. I tried to do the same with my left fist, but he blocked me just as well.

The Covenant forces that had descended on the city had caused a lot of trouble. I didn't know it at the time, but they had a mission beyond killing every human in sight from orbit. They were after something they found underground in the city, and they wanted it badly.

The Covenant were numerous, but that meant they had to be spread thin. I avoided them as best I could, but sometimes they would show up in places I had to pass. When that happened, I would drive them away as fast as I could and move on before anyone came to see what was going on. I was just a few steps away from Veronica's location when a report came in that enemy forces had entered her camp. I made a mad dash to save her, but a pair of stubborn hunters ruined my plans.

The rebels, realizing that the man they were pursuing had only been toying with them this whole time, squirmed for cover.

If they had been disciplined and led by a decent commander, they could have focused their fire on Romeo and destroyed him with overwhelming numbers.

This might have been their chance.

Romeo leapt forward and grabbed a rifle that had fallen nearby. He quickly checked his actions, made sure he was okay, and began taking down the rebels one by one.
