Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol's temporary casino, Bristol Casino, generated $15. 4 million in adjusted gross income (AGI) last month. This monthly total only topped the $16. 3 million it earned in March.

The $15. 4 million in May revenue generated $927, 768 in tax revenue for the Community Improvement Commission (RIC). The RIC represents 14 local county and city governments and allocates casino funds to transportation, education and public safety improvements.

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino at the former Bristol Mall site is due to break ground in December 2022 and is nearing the final stages of completion for a summer opening.

According to President Evangelista, there is still a long way to go before the grand opening. Hard Rock Bristol construction update - Jan. 2024

If you visit the construction site of Bristol's Hard Rock Casino, you'll see many construction workers, trucks and heavy equipment moving around the site. The most visible feature is the raised steel frame for the six-story hotel.

The one-story casino structure is at the rear of the hotel and difficult to see. According to Hard Rock spokesman Andy Poark, both the hotel and casino are on schedule for their grand opening this summer.

As of July 2022, Hard Rock is operating its first temporary casino in Virginia, Bristol Casino - Future Home of Hard Rock. The casino employs 600 people. This number is expected to increase to 1, 300 for the opening of the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol. Evangelista said new hiring events are planned for the coming months. The time and location will be announced later this quarter.

Since November 2019, the construction cost of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol has doubled. The initial estimate was $250 million. By the time of construction breaking ground in December 2022, it had ballooned to $400 million. Now, the final cost is expected to be $550 million.

Hard Rock Bristol construction passes mid-point | Update Oct. 2023

Construction of Bristol's permanent Hard Rock Hotel & Casino continues on schedule for a July 2024 opening. Work is due to begin in early December 2022 and is now half way complete.

The new metal frame of the hotel and resort is now visible from the road. Steel beams arrived on site in July and August last year.

Hard Rock will redevelop the former Bristol Mall into a casino and entertainment complex, with a 90, 000-square-foot casino, a Hard Rock Cafe, a 3, 200-seat Hard Rock Live venue and a 20, 000-seat outdoor entertainment venue. An adjacent six-story hotel will have 303 rooms and suites. A second 500-room hotel tower will be built at a later date.

Meanwhile, Hard Rock Bristol has been operating a temporary casino called "Bristol Casino - Future Home of Hard Rock" at the former Bristol Mall since July 2022.

Hard Rock International is owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Hard Rock Bristol Construction Update - Aug 2023

The construction of a permanent Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Bristol is scheduled to open in July 2024. Since the December 7 renovation, the construction cost estimate has increased from $400 million to $550 million due to increased material and labor costs.

Underground utilities and foundation work have been completed. Construction dust and the noise of heavy machinery and trucks can now be seen and heard front and center on the site. The structural steel has arrived and will soon be visible to travelers on Gate City Highway.

Several changes have been made from the original plan. The former Sears and former JCPenney buildings were not used and were demolished. The Hard Rock Casino floor space will be slightly expanded to 92, 000 square feet. The casino will have 1, 500 slot machines, 75 gaming tables, and a poker room.
