Max Mayfield
Maxine "Max" Mayfield[3], played by Sadie Sink, is the main character of Stranger Things, introduced in season 2. She is also the main character of Stranger Things: Runaway Max. She is a newcomer to the party and Billy Hargrove's base, and is best friends with Will Byers, Dustin Henderson, Jane "Eleven" Hopper, Lucas Sinclair, and Mike Wheeler. She is romantically involved with Lucas. [1]
Max is originally from California and had a strong interest in skateboarding from a young age. After her mother divorced and was sent to live with Neil Hargrove in 1984, Max moved to Hawkins, Indiana with Billy, a rogue showcase. Max soon gained a reputation at the Arcade Palace by covering the game board with high scores submitted under the player name "Mad Max". Max's high scores attracted the attention of arcade regulars Dustin, Lucas, Will, and Mike, who inadvertently passed themselves off as boys. After Maxine joined the boys' class at Hawkins Middle School, they realized that the new girl and the mysterious Mad Max were one and the same person. On Halloween, Max passed the boys while trick-or-treating and, despite feeling creepy about their previous behavior, changed her mind and tried to befriend them. Dustin and Lucas each had secret crushes on her and tried to make Max an official party member, but Mike stifled the idea.
When Will began experiencing strange "episodes", Max noticed and became even more intrigued when she learned of Will's disappearance the previous year. Her new friends were initially reluctant to explain what had happened to Will, but Lucas eventually revealed the entire history of events surrounding Will, Eleven, the Demogorgon, and the Upside Down. Though skeptical at first, Max's beliefs change after she and Lucas, Dustin, and their friend Steve Harrington encounter a pack of careless humanoid carnivores. Max and her friends soon discover that Will is in possession of the "Flayer Mind", a malevolent entity that acts as the inverted heart or mind of the Upside Down, and whose influence over Hawkins takes the form of giant vine tunnels running deep beneath the city.
Max became romantically involved with Lucas, but had an awkward first meeting with Eleven upon her return to Hawkins. Standing up to an unstable and violent Billy after his attack on Steve at the Byers house, Max further proved his worth by stealing Billy's car and leading the group into an underground tunnel. There, they assisted in the fight against the Mind Flayer by attacking the Upside Down's common mind. After defeating the Mind Flayer, Max participated in a snowball fight with her new companions and began dating Lucas after sharing her first kiss with him.
By the summer of 1985, Max had become friends with Eleven while going through an on-off-on-off cycle with Lucas. However, to Max's dismay, the party's attention was drawn to Billy when he was found to be behaving abnormally. It was later discovered that Billy had been possessed by the Mind Flayer, leading the party and their allies to rally together to defeat the Mind Flayer. While the group was fighting fireworks and spider monsters at Starcourt Mall, Eleven reminded Billy of his humanity, and her words prompted Billy to frighten and traumatize Max, urging him to sacrifice his life to save Eleven. Despite her difficult relationship with Billy, Max was deeply affected by the loss of her foster brother, experiencing deep grief, guilt, and survivor depression. Three months later, Max, along with the rest of the party, said a tearful farewell to Byers and Eleven, who were transferred to California by Dr. Owens.
For several months afterwards, Max suffered from the loss of Billy, and began to have frequent nightmares in which the moment of Billy's death was relived. She isolated herself from her friends and broke up with Lucas permanently. However, in March 1986, she decided to help investigate the murder of her old friend, Chrissie Cunningham. When Max and friends discover that she is experiencing the same disturbing hallucinations and symptoms as Chrissie, they conclude that she is "cursed" by a mysterious Upside Down entity named "Vecna" and that she doesn't have much time left. However, by playing her favorite songs on headphones, Max survives Vecna's attack and finds the strength to defy Vecna and return to reality.
Learning of VECNA's plan to use murder to open the four gates, the group came up with a plan of attack: Max would act as a decoy to distract VECNA, while Nancy, Steve, and Robin would attack his entity instead. In the Creel abandoned house, Max hallucinated again, but to his surprise, Eleven appeared in his vision with the power of psychic projection. However, VECNA neutralized Eleven and began to kill Max. Due to the actions of Eleven, Nancy, Steve, and Robin, Max was initially saved from death, albeit blinded and with broken limbs. Her heart even stopped for a moment. This technological death triggered the opening of the fourth and final curse portal, destroying Havoc throughout Hawkins. However, Eleven used her powers to restart Max's heart. She came back to life, but remained in a coma, on the edge of life and death. 1 Background

On October 30, Max sent Billy to Hawkins Junior High School and reached the first day at a new school. At the end of the next day, Max went to a locker, where she was called by Lucas and Dustin, she called "Stalker." Max was skeptical, trying to explain that he was just worried because he didn't want to see him being bullied. The boys invited her to go into a friend's circle in Trick or Treat, but Max said she was too poor to invite her. When Dustin taught the time and place between Halloween, she left.
After school, Max met Billy at the school parking lot and punished Billy, who was told that he would return on a skateboard if he was late, despite explaining that he had to regain his homework. On the way home, Max tried to explain to Billy that the town of Hawkins was not so bad, and did not try to protect his new home, so we decided to live there. Billy asked who had to move to Hawkins. Max tweeted for her fault. She did not try to say that he had moved to Hawkins, and Billy was furious and began to shout at speed. Max saw Mike, Lucas, and Dustin on a bicycle in the distance and said to drop to Billy and refuse to be friends with the boys. Billy had no ears to listen to, despite being pleaded by Max to stop, continued to speed up to hit the boys. At the last moment, Max grasped the steering wheel and turned the steering wheel in the opposite lane to avoid collisions with the boys. Max was not convinced of the story, but Lucas asserted that it was true, and would not ask because Will was sensitive to it, and Max agreed.
In Clark's class, Max was still thinking about Will's disappearance, so he focused on the class of a science teacher. When Dustin suddenly was late for class, he invited Max to be a friend of the Hawkins Middle AV Club because he had something he wanted to show, and Max agreed to his thumb.

Part of the Party [ ]
Max was angry with the secretism of the party with her.
After school, as Max was taking her things out of her locker, Lucas called out to her and asked if she had seen Dustin, who she was supposed to meet after class, but Max did not reply, closed her locker and left. As she was leaving school, Lucas followed her and tried to get him to help her find the darts, but Max coldly brushed him off. When Lucas tried to talk to her, Max angrily lashed out at him, venting her feelings of being excluded from the party. When Max began to express her confusion as a party member, Lucas said it was for Max's safety and tried to explain that there was a reason for their secretive behavior that made people think Max was a girl, but Lucas denied it. When Max asked Lucas if they had kept any secrets from Elle, Lucas was surprised that Max had mentioned Elle's name, but tried to assure her that the party and Elle were not related. However, Max's patience had reached its limit, so she told him that she no longer wanted to be a party member, and after saying goodbye to Lucas, she left angrily. Meeting Billy in the school parking lot, Max asks her about Lucas because she witnessed an argument where Lucas told her stepbrother that "Lucas is just a classmate". However, after getting into Billy's car, Billy asks Max why Lucas was talking to her. Billy further asks Max if Lucas noticed her upset and made a problem out of it, causing Max to wonder why Billy was starting to care about her feelings, forcing Billy to reveal that they were a family now and he now had to take care of her. Something he hates. Max tried to stand up for herself, but Billy held her arm tightly, saying that there were people in the world that needed to be avoided and that Lucas was one of them, demanding that she not go near Lucas, threateningly demanding that she do so. When Billy let go of her arm, Max walked home, crying quietly.
The next day, Billy drops him off at the arcade, and tells him that if he doesn't leave within an hour, he'll have to walk home. After Billy tells Max to "watch his attitude," Max slams her brother-in-law before entering the arcade. When Max tries to play Dig Dug, the game is marked as "out of order." Keith, an employee at the arcade, tells her that the game is shorting out, but says that there are games she can play in the back room. Max follows Keith into the back room, where she finds Lucas waiting for her.
Friendship with El [ ]
Max learns the truth about Will's disappearance.
When Max realizes that Lucas made Dig Dug look out of order to talk to her, she goes into the room in disgust, and when Keith leaves to be alone with her, Max angrily demands to know why Lucas wanted to see her. Lucas explained that he had decided to tell Max the real reason they had kept secrets from her, including what really happened to them in 1983, but that he wanted to tell Max in a private and safe place. When Lucas revealed that he would be arrested or killed if anyone found out what he shared with her, Max scoffed, but when asked a second time if he accepted the risk, Max, sensing the seriousness in Lucas' tone, replied that he did. As Max sat in the chair, he heard Lucas' confession: Will had never been lost in the forest, but had been taken by an extra-dimensional monster called the "Demogorgon" last year and trapped in an alternate dimension called the "Upside Down". Max also heard Lucas explain that the people at Hawkins National Laboratory were indirectly responsible for Will's disappearance, as they had succeeded in opening a portal to the Upside Down, and that they had faked Will's death by placing a fake corpse resembling Will in the Sutler Quarry. Furthermore, Max discovered this while Lucas and the others were searching for Will.
Max did not believe the paranormal reality that Lucas told him.
At the end of Lucas's story, Max seemed to be surprised at the details of the story, but she immediately realized that Lucas was either trying to draw her or mentally crazy. , I revealed that I didn't believe him. So Lucas was frustrated by her claiming that she was talking about confidential information at death, but she only thought she was crazy about him. Others were kept in Steve for safety, while Joyce was about to be released from the influence of the mind, and while Eleven was going to close the gate in Hawkins' lab. Mike, Lucas, and Dustin headed to the infected tunnel and began to burn the tunnel to distract others to help others. Steve refused it.
Max Billy's pebbles came home looking for Max that left home. He was furious at his sister's secret, attacked Lucas and was about to beat Steve. Finally, Max, who finally got up, used a spare tranquilizer to control the front, reflect his fathe r-i n-law's words, and let Billy alone before sunburn. In a Billy car, I put an unconscious Steve and headed to the tunnel. Steve, who woke up, agreed to remove the tentacles and gas holes in the tunnel and put them inside. Eleven people gained time to block the tears by driving the demodogs out of the gate.

Grieving Billy [ ]
On December 15, Max was preparing to go to a snowball match at Hawkins Junior High School. Max saw Billy and remembered her warning, with her mother prepared her hair before her departure. At the promise, he joined a boy student and tied the Dustin's hairstyle. When the slow dance number music began to flow, Max realized that Lucas was trying to ask her if she wanted to dance. While dancing with Lucas, they kissed for the first time, and the relationship between them began.

Max while dating Lucas
On the evening of June 28, 1985, Max, Lucas, and Will were waiting for Mike at Starcourt Mall. When he finally arrived, the group headed to Scoops Ahoy. There, Max saw Lucas negotiating insults with his sister Erica, sarcastically calling out Lucas and his altercation to Erica. Upon arriving at Scoops Ahoy, Steve helped them sneak into the movie theater. During the screening of the movie, a sudden power outage occurred throughout Hawkins, causing the entire mall to lose power. A short time later, the power was restored, allowing the group to continue watching the movie.
The next morning, at the Henderson House, Max attended Dustin's surprise house party, which ended with Lucas getting Farrah Fawcett hairspray sprayed in his face. While Max was helping Lucas wash his eyes, Dustin revealed that he knew where Celebro, the powerful radio personality he had installed at the camp, could contact his girlfriend, Susie. In order to activate the device, they must be at a high altitude. While in the right place, Mike and El lie to make it to curfew, leaving the rest of the party to assemble the device. After Dustin's repeated attempts to contact Susie are futile, Max concludes that Susie doesn't exist and leaves with Lucas.
While skateboarding outside the house, Max is suddenly approached by El for love advice. When El explains her story with Mike, Max confirms that he lied and advises her to end their relationship if she doesn't explain.
Targeted by Vecna [ ]
Max and El develop a friendship.
The two then go shopping at Starcourt Mall. Along the way, they are joined by Mike, Lucas, and Will. Max watches El confront and break up with Mike.
That night at the cabin, the girls decide to play a game of spin the bottle with Billy as the target to see who can spy on El's tricks. When El finds Billy, he is sitting on the ground, unaware that she is desperately asking for help. Sensing Elle's presence, Billy suddenly turned towards her and disappeared. Discovering Vecna's motives [ ]
The two then go to Starcourt Mall to enjoy shopping. Along the way, Mike, Lucas, and Will joined them. Max watched as El confronted Mike and broke up.
That night, at the cabin, they decided to play a game of spin the bottle, with Billy as the target, to see who could spy on El's tricks. When El found Billy, he was sitting on the ground, unaware that he was desperately calling for help. Sensing El's presence, Billy suddenly turned to her and disappeared.
While searching Billy's bathroom for signs of threatening behavior, the girls found a bathtub full of melted ice water, a lifeguard packet, and a bloody whistle. At the Hawkins Community Pool, they found it belonged to Heather Holloway, who was not at work that day. After finding her with the vacuum cleaner, Elle went to the Holloway residence, where she found Billy and Heather having dinner with her parents. Billy explained that Heather had just felt sick, and Heather confirmed that she felt better. Confused, Max and Elle left the residence and returned to the Hargrove residence. Elle still suspected something was wrong, but Max assured them that nothing was wrong.
The next morning, they woke up to find Mike, Lucas, and I on the phone, informing them of the Code Red situation. In Wheeler's basement, a piece of his mind that had possessed him the previous year was still in their own world, suggesting that it was connecting with a new host. When El told them everything he had seen, Max was skeptical of the idea, but they began to suspect that the new host was Billy. The team, who had been watching Billy at the pool, came up with a plan to lock Billy in the sauna to confirm that he was the host.
Max was crying and caring for Billy.
When the pool was closed and Billy was left alone, the team carried out their plan and lured him into the sauna. While he was locked up, Billy begged Max, saying that he didn't want to do the atrocities he had committed, but "I had no choice but to do it." When Max asked who Billy was referring to, glass shards flew everywhere. Billy was now completely under control, and escaped the sauna and attacked El. Freed from his hands, El threw Billy against the wall, letting him escape.
Max looked at Billy burning.
The next day, Max, Lucas, Mike, El, and Will gathered in Willer's basement. They learned from El's ability that Hopper and Joyce were heading to Illinois. When Nancy and Jonathan arrive and explain that Doris Driscoll acted in the same way as Will, who was possessed by the mind flayer, around the same time as Billy's sauna test, they conclude that Doris had also "escaped" and become a host for the flayer, and suspect that there is a strong possibility that she may have done so. As a result, it turns out that Heather and her parents have also become hosts.
Max recognizes the chemicals they were told to eat as something they would not have done last year.
Returning to Hollowei House, no one was at home, the atmosphere of the house was cold, and the residents were taking some home chemicals. Max said Will did not eat from his head when Will had this kind of action, and when Will had a chemical substance. Mike learned that a mixture of chemical substances can produce new substances from Mr. Clark, so he began to think that it could make some substances with the chemicals that the peeled people had eaten, but Max eats chemicals. I was suspicious because I knew that I could kill it. Further investigating, Heather's parents speculated that he was attacked and tied, was transported to an unknown place and peeled off. He suggested using Doriskol to find out where the fire was exposed.
At the hospital, Max was waiting in the waiting room while Nancy and Jonathan were going to Doris. Instead, Tom Holloway and Bruce Row attacked them. Each enemy was defeated, but Tom and Bruce's body melted and united, created a terrible creature, and was thrown away by Elle. The team witnessed the creature to escape to the sewer through lattice.
Returning to the hut, while Elle was looking for Fraid in the void, Max and Mike argued about her happiness, and as a result, Mike declared her love for her. Eventually, Elle entered the room and found that she had fallen in the room. While everyone agreed that it was a trap, El decided to return to Billy in the void, and found that Brimbone Steel is a Hidden Hide for Brimbone, through his memory. However, doing so, my place was known to my place.
Seeing a spider monster heading to the hut, the team was ready. Mind Frayer grabbed Elle's toe with a tentacle. Liberated from the Mind Flayer plate, Elle had two Mind Flure's head and temporarily escaped the team. < SPAN> When I returned to the Hollowe House, there was no one at home, the atmosphere of the house was cold, and the residents were taking some home chemicals. At Bradley's Big Buy, Max instructs everyone to get supplies to properly dress Elle's wounds. They then find Lucas and Will at a fireworks festival, where Lucas claims he wants to get fireworks to fight the creatures. Max objects to the idea, but has the boys steal the fireworks. When Mike contacts Dustin, the team travels to the mall, arriving in time to save the troops from the Russian soldiers. When Elle collapses, it is revealed that part of her brain is still stuck under her skin. Elle is able to use her powers to remove the pieces. Just then, Hopper arrives with Joyce and Murray.
The three of them, Hopper, Murray, and Joyce, infiltrate the Russian bunker, and with the help of Dustin and Erica, who are guided by Steve and Robin to Celebro, shut down the key and close the portal. Nancy, Jonathan, and the remaining party members take refuge in Murray's Illinois bunker.

In the parking lot of Starcourt, Nancy discovers that her car won't start because it's missing an ignition wire. With Billy blocking the mall's parking lot, the team is forced to return to the mall. While attempting to contact General Scoops for emergency transport, they realize they can use the ignition cable from a car that flew off earlier.
Shortly after retrieving the item, a flaming Mind crashes through the glass roof in the center of the mall. After successfully fending off the creature, Max, El, and Mike escape through the rear door in the vacuum while the remaining three escape through the front to their cars, distracting the Mind in the meantime. When the trio reach the front, they are intercepted by Billy, causing them to turn back the way they came, alerting the Mind Flayer of El's presence. When Billy reaches them, Max attempts to pull Billy out of the entity's control.

In October, Max helps the Byers family and Elle, who was taken from the Byers after Hopper was presumably killed in her moving boxes. Eleven wears a green tie that Max used to wear, which appears to have been a gift. While helping, Max and Lucas sing a never-ending story to taunt Dustin, who managed to confirm his girlfriend during the Starcourt game, much to Dustin's annoyance.
Max continues to mourn Billy's death.
Later, Max leaves Hawkins with Lucas, Mike, Dustin, and Nancy, saying goodbye to Elle and the Byers family. Max goes home and continues to mourn her vitrine, which is in her bedroom.
By the time Max enters high school, Max's life is in complete disarray. After Billy's death, Neil leaves the house, yelling at Susan, and Susan starts working two jobs to support herself and Max. Susan becomes addicted to alcohol and cigarettes, and Max becomes her caretaker. Max also began to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. His grades at school dropped, and he reluctantly visited school counselor Mrs. Kelly to deal with the trauma of his brother's death. He also distanced himself from his friends, including Lucas, whom he had broken up with after the summer of '85.
On the 21st of the month, the last day of school before the opening ceremony, Max arrived at Hawkins High School by school bus. Mrs. Kelly greeted her as she rushed in and asked her why she had missed the previous day's class. Max stood up and said that she had forgotten. When school started, Max attended a basketball rally with Mike and Dustin, and watched in disgust as the school heckled Jason and the basketball team.
That morning, she left Ms. Kelly's office, rolling Lucas over to give her tickets to the basketball championship game. Not interested in him or his sport, Max declined the invitation and was offended when Lucas commented that "he should find something to care about." The ex-boyfriend went on to point out how isolated she had been since Billy's death, likening her to a ghost. Lucas tried to gently tell her that he knew something was bothering her, but Max refused to talk about her feelings, insisting that it was normal for people to change. After giving the tickets to Toy, Max wished him good luck and escaped to the bathroom to take some medicine for her headache. Max heard cheerleader Chrissy Cunningham vomiting in a bathroom stall. Concerned, he asked Chrissy if she was okay, but she looked distressed and left without a word. At Chrissy's request, Max reluctantly left the bathroom. That night, while feeding the family dog in the yard, Max saw Chrissy coming home with Eddie in his truck. Confused, Max saw the two of them go into the trailer together. He then heard a scream and saw Eddie coming back in the truck.
Max woke up with the sound of the police and found that Manson's trailer was lively in a flock of police officers. He approached the door at the entrance and could see the body inside (Crisse's body). Lucas, Nancy, or Mike could not find Max, Max visited Dustin, saw that Eddie and Clissey were together the previous night, and that Christie was the victim of the murder. He pointed out how Eddie and Clissey were noticeable because their social status was different, and revealed that Eddie's name had not yet been published. When Max states that Eddie is likely to be a suspect, Dustin and Mike gently treat Eddie and put him under himself when Eddy and Mike entered high school. He did not believe he was responsible. Max said that despite the disadvantage of Eddie, he couldn't decide whether Eddie was guilty, and he asked Dustin why he did not inform the police, and he answered that he didn't know why. I was confused. However, after getting lost, Max saw Dustin's electricity flashing rapidly for a moment before witnessing Eddie escaping at the trailer park. I revealed. After Nancy finished his interview with the new police chief Calvin Powell, Max and others took her to the trailer park, where Vecna was the culprit who killed Fred and Crissy, and how he cursed. Their theory was heard about whether he had hit the victim. Whether he was the fleeting compliant. Before seeing Eddie, I discover that Krissy was crying in the school toilet. Looking through the files of Fred and Crissy, Max read that Christy and Fred had suffered a very terrible headache, sleep deprivation, nightmare, and night sweats for a while. At that time, Max suddenly came out of the office to hear the sound of the clock and investigate. Seeing a grandfather's clock at the end of the corridor, Max walked to see it nearby. When Nancy and Robin arrived at school, Max explained his dreams and showed his friends where he saw his grandfather clock. Dustin pointed out that Eddie's explanation was in a transformer in the same trance as Clisse before dying, and Max, who was worried, told his friends that the transformer state was not only a concern. Returning to Kelly's office, Max revealed to his friends that both Fred and Crissy had severe headaches, lack of sleep, nightmare, and night sweats. When he revealed that the disease was a Vecna's curse symptom, Max caught the headache a week ago, and Fred had a headache six days ago, and he continued his headache five days before. I revealed that. Max and his friends were stuck to know that they were the next target of Vecna, but she said she didn't know how much time she had, and Fred and Clissey had their first vision. Knowing that there are 24 hours after seeing, Max realizes that he will be killed by Vecna tomorrow.

The next day, Max's hallucinations became more intense and realized that her death was quick. Venui, who was visiting his mother, feared Max and met him instead of his mother. Max's friends and allies struggled to find a way to stop Vecna's plan. Her older friend Nancy and Robin Buckle, who went to Penhurst Psychiatric Hospital, asked Victor Keal, who claimed to survive from the attack of the "devil" that killed her family. Victor told Nancy and Robin that the "angel's voice" led himself to a safe place. Knowing that Victor was saved by the sound of the radio, they speculated that the music could play the role of anchor in Victor's reality and use it again to solve VECNA's spells.

The world was wrapped in the dark, and Billy appeared in front of Max, bullying from the shadow. However, Max realized that Billy was just an illusion. His true identity was Vecna, who was hiding downstairs. Max retreated from the cemetery and ran towards the red fog in the distance. Suddenly, he noticed that he was in Vecna's supe r-real space. In a broken house, Vecna again appeared in Max and clung to the pillar using a vine. The ritual of death was about to begin.

The Max friends who returned to the real world panicked and tried to wake her awake from the trance. Dustin contacted Nancy and Robin at Supercom and shared their theory that music could save Max. The and the groups put Max's favorite songs on her Walkman and headphones, and watched her worshiping on Billy's tomb. Max's consciousness, who returned to Vecna's heart, struggled to resist Vecna, but when she listened to music, she actually appeared on the horizon on the ground. From the window, Max saw her real body, looting over the graveyard, and her friends celebrating on the ground. Max pulled his body to Vecna's vine and accidentally solved her from grabbing the vine because he could not endure the pain. When Max broke toward the window, the dissatisfied Vecna regained calmness. He skipped the house fragment to Max and tried to stop her, but too late.

When he arrived at the ruined creel house, Max saw Steve and Nancy's hammer brought to remove the plate entrance door. I didn't know if there would be Vecna in the house, but Max reconfirmed that it could only be found by looking inside. When Steve and Nancy remove the panel that covered the door, Max noticed that there was a stained glass on the entrance door with a rose flower that was familiar with Vecna's heart.

After Robin broke the window with a brick, the team opened the door key and entered the house. Max and others found that the electricity of the house had stopped and took out the flashlight brought to use during the investigation. In the corridor, Max noticed the same grandfather's clock that he saw in Vecna's vision, and heard that his friends were watching the watch, and confirmed with their friends that the clock was the same as what they saw in the vision. I was able to do it. One group was divided into two teams, Max searched for the first floor of the house with Lucas, and Dustin, Steve, Nancy, and Robin searched the second floor.
All teenage young people gather in the attic, consumed the energy of the flashlight until the lights illuminating the attic, exploded, and noticed that they had been active in the upside down version of the house. It is no longer possible.
The next day, Max and his friends heard the news that Patrick McKinny was killed at Cape Cape and Eddie was guilty of innocence. While walking to Skull Rock to reunite with the leader of the Helfire Club, Max noticed Lucas's desperate expression, and Patrick had a day to practice, but that was a lie. I confessed. Lucas and Max noticed that Vecna was choosing a target based on the wounds of the heart, and Lucas began deeply apologizing to her e x-lover who lost her than her. She said she was bad, hiding from sadness, but Lucas promised her from that moment she was on her side. < SPAN> When he arrived at the ruined creel house, Max saw Steve and Nancy's hammer brought to remove the boarding entrance door. He found Eddie in the skull rock in the forest and confirmed the time when Patrick was killed. It turned out to be exactly the same as the time when Matsumi of Kiri House exploded, and it was convinced that VECNA is based in a mansion that has been upside down. With this information, Max suggested that Nancy had no way to get down yet, and to kill VECNA with his pile into his heart. When Dustin's compass began to go crazy, Max explained that Dustin's strange electromagnetic activity was causing a compass malfunction. In response to this news, Max and others began to go deep into the forest to find the portal.
After the police took Max, Dustin, and Lucas to Wheeler House, they asked what they were doing at Cape Cape. They were going to swim overnight in the lake, and lied to knowing about the murder after arriving there. When wheeler asked Nancy, Max and Lucas answered a different answer, and Nancy was with him, but he left when the police arrived. When the chief of Powell asked if he had contacted Eddie, Max, Dustin and Lucas denied their relationship with Eddie. Dustin, Lucas, and the newly informed Erica, hoping to rescue their oldest ally from the Upside Down, silently convince them to join them in the direction of the Manson trailer. Erica disables the police car to prevent the police and her parents from pursuing them, and heads towards the Manson trailer, where the gate to the Upside Down is located. Arriving at the trailer, the kids use a broom to open the gate and find their older ally on the other side. By combining some leaves, they are able to create a rope, allowing Robin and Eddie to return to Earth. However, before Nancy and Steve can climb the rope itself, Mike's sister has Vecna. They can't find anything, but Vecna finally releases after Nancy gives her a message to deliver to Eleven and the rest of her friends. Everyone reunites, and the group of teens originating from Max's trailer reunites to spend the night and take refuge. The next morning, Max and the others learned through Nancy that Vecna's former identity was the son of Victor Creel Henry, who was recruited by Dr. Martin Brenner to become Hawkins Laboratory's original child psychomotor test and the precursor to many of the subjects, including Eleven. A tearful Nancy explained the ominous future the creature had shown her. After explaining that she had also seen four giant portals tearing through Hawkins, Max and Lucas realized that Vecna's master plan had always been hinted at by the grandfather clock, and that he was only one kill away from triggering the apocalypse. Determined to ensure the safety of her loved ones and the world, Nancy insisted that they needed to put an end to Vecna's wretched existence, and that they needed weapons for the mission. Steve and Robin argued that Vecna was far more powerful than them, but Dustin and Lucas realized that Vecna's body could be attacked as the Dark Wizard hunts his final victim. When Robin pointed out that they had no idea who Vecna's final target was, Max confessed that while she had escaped Vecna's wrath, she was still under his curse, and suggested that they remove the Walkman to draw Vecna's attention back to themselves. Lucas immediately opposed the idea, but Max insisted that it would be fine as long as the others killed Vecna before he killed her. No one was happy with this plan, but it was all they had. They needed weapons to carry out their plan, so the group decided to visit a store called "War Zone" where they could be adequately armed. With Eddie's guidance, they steal the family's trailer, and the group, with seven people in the trailer, sets off for the operation. Lucas joins Max in the back seat, and initially tries to convince him to abandon his plan to compromise. Max won't let a complete stranger incur Vecna's wrath, and assures him that he will find happy memories that Vecna cannot. In the conflict zone, Max and the others find the weapons they were looking for, but they also run into Jason and his basketball team. Jason confronts Nancy as he pulls out his shotgun, but he avoids his questions and manages to get the others out in time before he becomes suspicious. Armed with the necessary supplies, they find a secluded field, where they set up a temporary base and work on building weapons. Finally ready, they drive to the Creel House to eliminate Erica, Lucas, and Max, while the rest head back to Eddie's trailer. Max talks to VECNA. At Creel House, Max waited with Lucas until she received Erica's badge, and began the first step of her plan: taking out VECNA. Max used her lantern to locate VECNA in an abandoned house, and removed her Walkman, leaving herself vulnerable. VECNA did not attack immediately, frustrating Max, who wanted to get it over with. However, while she waited for him, she decided to take a calm approach and sat down in the attic to have a "conversation" with him. As she spoke, she poured out her deepest, darkest thoughts. Not only did she make herself physically vulnerable, but she also made herself emotionally vulnerable by letting out the feelings she had been holding back for the last six months. She admitted that she had wanted Billy dead, and had imagined him crashing his car and leaving her life forever. Although she had often wished for Billy's death, Max felt guilty after he was killed by Freya, and began praying for her own death as well. At her weakest moment, Vecna attacked her, taking the body of Lucas, who had been standing nearby while Max spoke. In her vision, Vecna taunts her, telling her that her death will destroy the world. At this point, Max realizes she has been tricked and, unable to snap out of the trance Vecna has cast upon her, begins to flee from the monster before her. Meanwhile, Jason enters the attic to confront Lucas, who has been watching Max. As the two begin to fight, Jason accidentally fires at Max's Walkman, destroying it, thus cutting off her hope of salvation in the real world.
