In 2016, in cooperation with Engage Global, the 10th annual awards were launched at the federal level in Germany. The year has started. Its aim is to honour the social contributions of people of African descent. Black and African communities have belonged to Germany for centuries. However, this knowledge is not widespread and negative portrayals of people of African descent prevail in public speech. The presence of a strong black movement for decades has shaped black life and made them visible for the first time, but is little known to many people, nor the fact that people of African descent enrich German society with their diverse contributions. The two-day conference will discuss the achievements of the black movement and the implementation of the UN Decade for People of African Descent in Germany. 5 October 2018 17:00-21:00 6 October 2018 10:00-16:30 DGB-Gewerkschaftshaus Wilhelm-leuschner-straße 69-77 60329 Frankfurt AM Main Register by 3 October: Registration form Contact: jahrestag. pad@goomail.
