Can Kenya Rugby 7s sustain the tempo, Mr. Friday?

December 7, 2012 2:17 AM.

In the 2012-13 season, the HSBC supported the IRB Sevens series began with the struggle of Kenya. Last season, it was 12th (the lowest in 12 core teams), and it was in danger of falling from the Core Team (the core team was guaranteed to participate in all the tournaments during the season). From this season, IRB has introduced a new rule that will be promoted and relegated by the final ranking at the end of the season. In this series, the starting core team was expanded from 12 to 15. Returning to the Kenya game, in the of f-season, Mike Friday, a former player and a British coach, was hired to regain technical experiences and polished Kenyan games known at pace and mischief. 。 After losing Safari Seven's shield, it was thought that it would come back in 2011-12, but proved that the last two rounds of the series were not. For now, the total victory is 32 with 32 overall (Fiji and the same win). South Africa remains

The final round of this year, held in South Africa, will be a new challenge series for Mike Friday classes. First of all, the absence of top tester Collins Ingera, experienced Bica Adema and Oscar Oma are missing. Sydney Ashiya also missed the injury. For the first time this season, Humphrey Kayangae (Inherella's older brother), who wears representative colors, will temporarily stop participating. The following name is listed in the former substitute. Billy Odianbo, Fabian Orlando, Oscar Ayondy.

Kenyan National Honours, who makes the Sports Category shortlist?

Second, the team has already been considered a strong candidate for the final tournament, and other teams are paying attention. In this third round, the tactical change of the team, which had looked like a "walkover", can be expected. Argentina and Wales threaten Kenya's participation in the tournament, and the pool looks advantageous, but the battle is from the quarterfinals and sem i-finals, respectively. The Kenya national team is one step further until the final battle. Especially in the Dubai series, the conversion kick was out of the question. Test score

Third, South African is only the third of the ten tournaments. Can the Kenya team maintain this Stirling performance? It is good to go, but the depression can occur everywhere from Christmas vacation (January 2013) to the second round of April. If the boys and the technical team maintain it, there is something good. In any case, if Kenya wins the top prize in any tournament, you can get 12 points. The points given to the top sixth place in each tournament are as follows.

Cup champion (1st) -22 points

Cup loser (2nd) -19 points,

Cup 3rd place decision winner (3rd place) -17 points,

  • Cup 3rd place decisive match, loser (4th) -15 points,
  • Plate victory (5th) -13 points,

Fifthly, there are incentives and bonuses given by Kenya Airways to the team and also to those who complete the Summit 4. These monies are to be paid from time to time to continually motivate the boys in the team. Winning the national colours is a great honour but in this day and age, that honour also comes at a cost. As a semi-professional team aiming to become fully professional in the next half century, meaningful contracts with clear salary structures should be in the pockets of all the players.

The sixth edition of Rugby Sevens will be announced at the Olympics in Brazil in 2016. Kenya is one of the favourites to qualify from Africa and they must ensure they send the best team to the tournament. It is early days for this but the groundwork is starting to be laid now as more than half the team may not have qualified by then. This goes back to the Kenya Rugby Union officials. Ensuring a wider reach of the game, rigorous recruitment by the clubs, regular technical and development skills to retired players and coaching practices, and additional investment through sponsorship and grants from relevant corporate and sporting bodies etc.

Finally, the same flair that has been invested in the seven-a-side game should also be reflected in the 15-a-side game still being watched in Kenya. Let us not forget that rugby lovers believe that the value of a nation is measured in the strength and depth of its 15-a-side. Are we up to it?

Jamhuri (Independence Day/Democracy Day) is usually the last major national day in the Kenyan calendar. It is also the day when a list of national achievements and honours is presented to various Kenyans who have demonstrated hard work and outstanding achievements during the year or their lifetime. It is framed in the same spirit as the civilian awards and medals given in the UK (Kenya's former colonial master).

Extension Bar, Kenya Image courtesy of http://www. coleccionesmilitares.

  • The Kenyan Awards of Honour immediately after independence are dominated by politicians, businessmen, educators and unfortunately friends of the government of the time. This was perpetuated by the MOI government in the 1980s and 90s. Then came the Kibaku era in its twilight. Again, not much has changed, there are some Kenyans who are deserving of the award, but every now and then a "wow" appears. Have you always wondered if you are on that list, or at least if someone you know deserves it? In 2004, the Kenyan nation was a bit perplexed when the Nobel Committee awarded the Peace Prize to Wangari Maathai.
  • But we have the following list of honours:
  • Golden Heart Class - Chief/First Class (awarded only to Kenyan heads of state and exemplary people from other parts of the world) CGH, Elder/Second Class (EGH), Moran/Sars (MGH).
  • Class of Burning Spear - Chief (CBS), Moran (MBS), Elder (EBS)

Order of Great Warriors of Kenya (OGW)

Silver Star (SS)

Head of State Commendation (HSC)

Distinguished Service Award

Distinguished Service Award

  1. David Rekuta Rudisha (MBS)
  2. Sam Nyamweya (MBS)
  3. Last year's list
  4. Collins Injera (OGW)
  5. Humphrey Kayanju (OGW)
  6. President Kibaki presents the Aga Khan with the Order of the Golden Heart - 2007
Now, my complaint starts with "save this list" because there are plenty of sports personalities who deserve recognition, whether still playing, retired or post-retirement. This has happened before. For example, Kenya has never honoured boxing hero Robert Wangira Napuni, marathon runner Samuel Wanjiru, footballer Jonathan Niva or former tennis star Paul Wekesa. Secondly, by what standards is the national civil service exploiting those who deserve these awards? Yes, what great honours have some of them brought us? For example, football great Sam Nyamweya was in charge of the Kenya Football Federation, but today we see that he really did not live up to expectations. In fact, he may be part of the reason why Kenyan football is mediocre. Look at how they handled the Henri Michel case. What about the Sakata Ball? There was supposed to be a hero corner at Uhuru Garden. What happened to that idea? Sports Kenya has launched its own sports museum to honour those who have done great things in sport for the country.

Game Yetu, SportOn & Kenyan sports publications. shall they manage?

I hope that next year, at a time like this, a new administration will come into power and improve the way we pay tribute to our sportspeople. They are our greatest and most consistent ambassadors and should be treated as such, if not!

At this time up until 2009, enthusiastic fans from all over the world, especially from Africa, were cheering on the world's toughest and once longest rally, the Dakar Rally (formerly known as the Paris-Dakar Rally). However, thanks to insecurity in each country and route, hostility from nomadic communities along North Africa, and dissatisfaction from the governments and athletic cluster operators of each country, the Dakar Rally was no longer held. All these factors led to the rally being suspended.

Dakar Rally - Logo courtesy of www. dakar.

It used to be a favorite place for European and sometimes Asian drivers to enjoy African adventures, and also a place for car manufacturers to test off-road products. The combination of four wheels and motorcycles is the ultimate adrenaline rush for rally and speed lovers. Now, as reported in 2009, the organizers, Amaury Sports Organization, invited bids from countries interested in hosting the race. As a result, the South American comrades of Argentina, Chile, and Peru won the bid. It was perfect for racing because it combines terrain similar to what we experienced driving and riding in the Sahara Desert and the French countryside. However, there are no famous mountain passes like the Mediterranean.

As I saw in an earlier article on concentration in Africa, the main observations are the fact that the global organizations that collected seem to have lost patience and traction on the African continent in sports. At the time of writing this article, there is no African race in the 11th year of the World Championships (Rally Safari has fallen after the fall of the Court Jiboire Rally Court de Event that crosses the African road, "I'm happy. It was the last withdrawal of Africa until you let go.) Some of the factors that lost their interest in major car manufacturers and racing organizers were the fact that racing was very expensive-from crews involved in cars to fuel and parts. Concentration from the colonial era means that the local investment of this sport has decreased. With the ban on cigarettes in the 1990s, Rally Safari immediately searched for a new general title sponsor to pull the event. Despite the fact that major car manufacturers entered Rally Safari, they have been exhausted by the huge cost to go around the world. Recently, mini (withdrawal in just two years) and Ford (after 1992) have been replaced by Hyundai and Volkswagen, respectively. It is necessary to hold an event involving locals and potential sponsors in terms of recognition, uniqueness, and exposure to the world.

Established the Kenya Sports Development Agency (Supervisory of all sports activities, promote, coordinate, implement sports programs, and manage sports assets and facilities)

Sports Secretary Dr. Hassan A. Wario - An Oath for Kenyan Sports

Established the National Sports Fund (raising and managing funds for the Sports Agency, and advised the Sports Federation for appropriate financial assistance).

Established the National Sports Institute (management of sports training facilities, promoting research and development, monitoring the current sports trends, proposal of appropriate practice for the Sports Federation).

Registration and regulation of sports organizations, and licensing (installation of sports organizations, licensing sports organizations (federation, clubs, and other), inspection of financial registrations and books, etc.).

Also, the Commissioner for Sports (equivalent to the current Minister) can step in and disband sports organisations in case of disputes or mismanagement. This has again offended some federations like the Kenya Football Federation, who consider themselves above the intervention of the national government (FIFA’s national representative has always made national federations feel above the law). This Act addresses the long-standing headache of fund raising through sports funds. This will ensure that there will be sufficient funds for national and international representatives to participate in events in the future and also ensure smooth running of the federations.

However, we Kenyan sports stakeholders must remain vigilant and ensure that the Sports Act does not become just another clause in Kenyan law. Many sports stakeholders who are not interested in the development and growth of sports, like our lawmakers, will fight and suppress such a move. Our legal experts say that this Act is not operating in a vacuum, nor is it being abandoned. (We know that some sports organisations fought to remove the clause limiting the term of office of sports officials).

With Kenya's golden age and legacy of participating in international sporting events for over 60 years, this law will pave the way for further investment and interest in sports in Kenya. This law will ensure professionalism in sports performance and ensure that sports is firmly rooted in the phenomenon of indivisibility.

Call out to the sporting elite! Start packing your bags, just like the outgoing MPs!

Kenya's "useless" facts

The 10th Parliament had several MPs who are big names in sports or run sports organisations. The following are representative:

Peter Kenneth (Gatanga MP) was president of the Kenya Football Federation (now the Kenya Football Federation, Semantics) from 1996 to 2000 and played for the federation's reunion as a goalkeeper;

Alfred Kangati (Kandui MP) - President of Kenya Volleyball in the 1990s.

Dr. Sam Ongeri (Nyaribari Masaba MP) - President of Kenya Sports from 1974 to 1984,

Can this be the year of Rebirth of Kenya's Basketball?

Chris Obure (Bobasi MP) - played for Gor Mahia in the 1970s,

Elijah Lagat (EMGWEN MP) - former marathon runner who won in Boston (2000), Prague (1998) and Berlin (1997),

John Harun Mwau (Representative Kilome) -A master of shooting in the Olympic shooting competition in 1968 and 1972.

Again, while the largest population in this country is not yet online, the number of publications and newspapers that sell well on shelves and streets (in fact, elections in Kenya in March). It wasn't for, but the numbers didn't look beautiful at all). A "unscientific" sample from Twitter's handle was found that the majority of Kenians had not yet bought two sports newspapers. There is also the question of how long this publication is. If it is 28 pages, page 7 to 14 must be filled by advertisers. Many Kenians don't want to let go of $ 30, even twice a week. Each article has online links that are not regularly updated. In fact, now that I am writing this, the SPORTON link is not open for some reason. Is it a hosting problem?

Many will love these publications, but their sustainability and the lack of local credibility will make them a useless work. It is good to throw a stone in the Kenya sports world, but you may need a serious r e-evaluation and rebranding in order to have a large number of people who expect the paper.

Looking at these posts, I remember Tanzania's Mwana Spotty and South Africa Raduma. The latter is the third newspaper in South Africa, with more than 300. 000 copies per day. LADUMA means "I entered!" Or "Scores!" Or it means "score!" In Zulu. The newspaper also has websites and mobilinks to attract more online readers and mobile readers in addition to being active in social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. In the past five years, the newspaper has overturned all the publishing logic in the country where the Internet has driven hard copies and newspapers and other publications have been affected by melancholy numbers!

Jason Danford

Thanks to Jason for responding to this Q & Amp; A session. A. 1. 2012 was a busy and good year for Jason Danford and for the Kenya Swimming Team. The opening ceremony of the Olympics was the biggest highlight of this year. It was a great honor to be selected for such a role. Unfortunately, it may not have been possible to play the best a few days later (I felt tired of my feet), but it was impossible to refuse.

b) At a low moment, he was very active in his own event and did not proceed to the final despite his fourth place in the world.

2. At the London Olympics, I participated as a member of the Kenya team. So what kind of experience did you have? Also, what do you think that did not work for you and the swimming team? The swimming team was composed of his brother David and me. The only swimmer who participated in the Olympics on behalf of the country was a great honor and achievement for us, especially in the second Olympics. However, for the second Olympics, we went to the tournament with a big goal. Eventually, the pressure affected the performance and neither of them could do their best. But I think we did everything we could, and I am honored to have done this trip together.

3. 2013 is likely to be a miserable year for most sports events in Kenya, but what about the calendar of swimming? This year we will be away from the international tournament and give up on the World Championships. This is to work in a Green Citizen (www. Greencitizen. com) in California, work at an electronic equipment recycling company, refresh, and experience a professional life than a university. However, I still do hard training every day and want to participate in the Commonwealth Games next year.
